[quote]Also in dispute was about $600 million in the Senate version of the bill to hire 1,000 new border patrol officers and other immigration agents and provide 2,000 new beds for detainees.
{here they are stumped? disgusting!}
Tentative deals have been reached to provide roughly $75 billion for defense-releated costs and construction of a new U.S. embassy in Baghdad.
The legislation won't be final until the House and Senate vote on it. The House could take it up later this week but the Senate won't vote until after it reconvenes May 9.
The immigration restrictions have White House backing and could help President Bush win support for a temporary worker program that he has said should include illegal immigrants already in the country. House Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., had pressed for the restrictions, saying they would enhance border security and were needed independent of other immigration reforms.
{HERE YA GO........anyone wonder why the administration gave the nod?}
Governors and state motor vehicle departments had opposed the driver's license provisions as too costly. They also complained state motor vehicle officials will be forced to take on the role of immigration officers.

Re: House, Senate reach tentative deal on immigration measur
Governors and state motor vehicle departments had opposed the driver's license provisions as too costly. They also complained state motor vehicle officials will be forced to take on the role of immigration officers.
This legislation at the federal level is ONLY required because Governors fell for the National Council of La Raza politicial agenda and issued DRIVERS LICENSES to illegal aliens.
The line has been drawn in the sand, it's time our Nation's Governors got on the RIGHT SIDE of it and complied with US Immigration, US Labor and US Civil Rights Law.
The issuance of state driver's licenses aided and abetted illegal aliens to operate in American Society, to secure jobs that belonged to Americans, to rent houses that should have been occupied by Americans, to secure "credit" that should have been reserved for legal US Citizens, to increase the need for public services, to crowd our educational facilities and medical facilities, to increase crime, drugs, murders.
Governors.......you did that.....you sold our country out.....for some votes.
One may only wonder how helping illegal aliens gets you votes on Election Day.....????? Some illegal votes perhaps with illegal aliens showing up at the Voting Precint with a DRIVER'S LICENSE!!
All that will be done by the new law should it pass is to get YOU and your Motor Vehicle Divisions to UNDO the harm you have caused our society by aiding and abetting illegal aliens. You are now part of the Immigration process because you devised a means at the state level to VIOLATE that process.......for Votes.....presumably Illegal Votes.A Nation Without Borders Is Not A Nation - Ronald Reagan

House Senate reach deal
Sooo then nothing really changed(?). Amnesty is in the deal-temporary worker same thing. Negotiate amount of money for border patrol. So, what is going through? It sounds like the same pretty little package Bush wanted in the 1st place. Am I wrong? So, I guess we should sit back and watch the stampede!?!?

More of nothing but wasted money.They made sure they got the embassy in Iraq out there though.Looks like everytime something domestic is addressed they're going to throw a little something for Iraq in there financially.One for you,two for Iraq.One for you,three for Iraq.

Yeah....but keep in mind this Supplemental Bill is for Iraq to begin with....they are tacking on the money for the Border Patrol, thanks to Byrd from West Virginia!! At least it's something to help. I think it should be alot MORE Border Patrol Guards...that's still not enough...maybe with some of the fancy equipment....if they can ever get it WORKING!
