    Deportations to Haiti have resumed

    http://www.haiti-info.com/article.php3?id_article=3554

I found this to be a somewhat interesting piece with some "get tough" statements never heard before, tell me what you think.

    Deportations to Haiti have resumed

    14 avril 2005

A group of Haitian nationals convicted of violating U.S. laws returned to their homeland, months after the nation had been ravaged by floods.

Federal immigration authorities have returned 59 Haitian nationals back to their homeland this week, a sure sign that deportations have resumed following the devastating floods in the Caribbean nation last September.

’’The state department conducted site visits and determined that the area is no longer in conditions that would preclude [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement] from carrying out orders of removal as mandated by law,’’ said spokeswoman Barbara Gonzalez.

Following the September floods that killed thousands and left many more homeless, U.S. immigration authorities had temporarily halted certain deportations to the nation.

Of the group deported Monday, 38 were felons convicted on charges ranging from armed robbery to sexual abuse to drug possession. The remainder were found guilty of violating federal immigration laws such as entering the United States illegally.

Among those removed : Jean Julex Alusma, 32, and Raymond Joseph, 56. Both were permanent legal U.S. residents.

Alusma had been convicted of nine counts of kidnapping with a deadly weapon and was placed in removal proceedings based on his aggravated felony convictions. He was ordered deported on Oct. 4, 2001, by an immigration judge.

Joseph was convicted on June 1, 1992, for attempted sexual battery on a minor.

’’Both Alusma and Joseph squandered the opportunity given to them by the United States when they broke our laws by hurting the innocent,’’ said Michael Rozos, a Florida field office director for ICE. ``Those who think that they are immune to deportation because they have a legal status in this country need to think twice. Criminals will be held accountable for their actions.’’

There is an automatic 10-year bar against deported aliens legally re-entering the United States.

Last year, ICE removed 160,000 aliens from the United States. About 53 percent were criminal aliens. ICE’s Florida field office has removed 1,617 aliens since the beginning of the 2005 budget year ; 862 were criminal aliens.

This is good news to see the Government deporting criminals back to Haiti. However, they need to deport all illegals last-in-first out (LIFO) and give them a strong message so they will not return.

The aliens need to devote their energies, talents, work, enterprises to improving their country and we'll take care of ours.

How many White Haitians have you seen?Send all of them back-don't spare the Cubans. The ones that are here are mainly here because when Castro took control they could no longer live like kings while the other 98% of the country lived in squalor. The same as many of the Nicarauans that came in the 80s.

rickesteves, I understand now. Thanks for the clarification. Absolutely, no group from any nation needs any special treatment. All illegal aliens from whatever country of origin need to be returned to their country of origin, whatever it takes, to remove them from our US Job Market that creates unfair and illegal competition for Americans as well as to remove them from public benefits, services and opportunities reserved for Americans that are not only depriving deserving and needy Americans but placing a burden on all these programs causing deficits across the board.

Why this selective enforcement of our laws? This is total politics. I want all illegals deported, not just a certain group. Glad to see criminal Haitians deported, but why are Cubans and Mexicans spared? Ridiculous!

Let's face it-Haitians are Black. This DOES make a difference. They also speak French instead of Espanol. There are also more HIV cases per capita among them. One of the Americans that suffers the worst from the wave of illegals is the Afro-American.Many in California are exiting back to the south because their neighborhoods were the first taken over by the wave.Black people in America have have helped PROVIDE food, shelter, and clothing for America since the beginning, long before our adversaries from over the southern border came to work hear yet we hear from advocates and politicians that we can't do without the labor the aliens provide.
