MOBILE, Ala. -Senator Jeff Sessions stopped by a Common Sense Campaign Event Saturday to share with the crowd what he sees in Washington.

Senator Sessions spoke a lot about the country's deficit, explaining where a lot of the budget goes towards.
"Our interest on the debt last year was $230 billion, the Federal Highway budget is $40 billion, the Aid to Education, which has about 80 different programs is $100 billion," Sessions says.

As the ranking republican on the budget committee, Senator Sessions works closely with Congressional Budget Office Director Doug Elmendof, who has made a prediction.

"The interest in one year on the debt ten years from today would be $880 billion," Sessions says.

Another hot topic the senator has always been hot on it immigration. With around 12 million immigrants living in the United States illegally, Senator Sessions says Washington must figure out a solution.

"We'll have to wrestle with that very hard. A lot of them came, have not worked in America, do not have relatives or families, here and should be deported."

He goes on to argue that those illegal immigrants who are employed are taking away jobs from those who earned them lawfully.

"We also have the situation where people are taking jobs and it is pulling down the wages of working Americans who don't have high skills and college degrees."

So, what does he propose?

"We need to re-institute a lawful system of immigration that serves a national interest. We cannot bring in so many people that it pulls down the opportunity for Americans to get a job at a decent wage."
