Destiny: Limbaugh predicts Trump’s border wall will become a tourist destination

By Jennifer Harper - The Washington Times - Tuesday, April 11, 2017

President Trump has vowed to build a “big, beautiful wall” between the U.S. and Mexico to curtail illegal immigration. His fans love this campaign promise — his critics tear it to pieces. Practical penny-counters shudder over the idea — diplomats shrug. Talk radio host Rush Limbaugh still believes the border wall is a possibility, and now adds an interesting dimension to it, based on Mr. Trump’s capacity for surprise and innovation.

“I think the wall is going get built, somehow, some way,” Mr. Limbaugh told his 10 million listeners on Tuesday. Then he began to riff on the idea.

“There will be a structure that goes up, and it will have an observation deck, and it will have a sauna, and it will have hot tubs and stuff. It’ll be a tourist attraction. It might even have exclusive Trump hotel suites. You can stay at the wall, you can vacation at the wall. Wouldn’t that be cool if that kind of structure went up? Those are the kinds of things Trump’s known for,” the host continued, then paused to imagine how a combination adventure hotel and border wall would affect the president’s many foes.

“That would really frost them,” Mr. Limbaugh noted.

Rush Limbaugh is a big, fat slug. If he thought he would get more listener support by bashing the idea he would probably do that, just as well.

I myself think that we can curtail illegal immigration more effectively by re- invigorating neglected policies, enlisting feedback and cooperation from border agents, by employing actually effective surveillance gear, and using the knowledge we already have of known trails, routes and smuggling tactics. If there are selected areas that are hard to monitor and where vehicles or groups could cross put up some better vehicle barriers, and assign some extra agents with their surveillance gear to those areas.

We all know that the real cause of illegal immigration has been a lack of will power to effectively control the border, and major jurisdictions designing policies that protect illegals.

Yes, I agree. I'm very impressed with what's already been accomplished just by the inauguration of Donald Trump. The drop in border crossings is astounding. I mean they're saying it's down 67%.

Illegal crossings cut 67% under Trump, border wall price set at $5-$8 billion

A top border expert said Tuesday that illegal border crossings since President Trump took office have been cut 67 percent.

Former Border Patrol chief David Aguilar revealed the new numbers at a Senate hearing. Previous reports said that the crossings had been cut 40 percent.

At a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing focused on building the wall, Montana Sen. Steve Daines pointed to a recent Border Patrol press release about the 40 percent drop, when Aguilar noted the changes.

"Let me just update that March 8" release, he said, "as of the 31st of March, five days ago, whatever it is, it's actually up to a 67 percent drop compared to last year."

Aguilar, the former acting director of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, credited Trump and his tough anti-illegal immigrant talk, saying results occur "when the U.S. stands strong and takes certain action, substantive action."

At the hearing, the committee chairman who will oversee construction of President Trump's border wall also set a price at just $5-$8 billion.

Sen. Ron Johnson said the estimate is based on current costs and the price Israel recently paid for its southern fence, revealed to him during a trip to the Jewish State late last year.

In his first of two hearings this week on the wall, Johnson used Israel's average price of $2.9 million a mile for his estimate. He added in about $1 million per mile for land purchases highlighted by committee Democrats.

"So tack on $1 million to $2.9 million and the total cost to 2,000 mile wall, and I don't anybody here in this hearing room … is suggesting 2,000 miles. We're looking at the right kind of fencing, the right place, but even that would be less than $8 billion, somewhere between $5 billion and $8 billion," said Johnson.

The deeper problem is that we are up against a shadow government---i.e. the ACLU. These weirdos think that somehow the US Constitution is magically different than the constitutions of other countries (even though the entire Western Hemisphere was seeking independence from European monarchies) and that no matter what we do, somehow we are supposed to revert back to letting other foreign powers control us.

Yes, I know that most other countries in the world are generally pretty tolerant and respectful of people----unless you are in some ultra iconoclastic zones like in Central Asia or the Orient. But they are not going to function when other countries start controlling them, so when someone like SCOTUS justice Stephen Breyer says we need to observe what other countries do, this on the face of it still should not mean we let other countries determine our laws.

I am seeing the rise of outright chaotic local government, where the ACLU is woven in everywhere you go, that now seems to think they can impose every sort of big spending agenda they can dream up. This can happen in ultra conservative areas, too ( as in our Iraq invasion boondoggle) but why should it happen at all? On the good side, we just got a new mayor, who although toeing the typical SJW talking points on policy, had always been very fiscally conservative in his prior offices. If they can't get their hands on the money, my experience is that these political movements tend to fall over pretty quick. I can't explain it....just what I have seen happen before.

So how does a lengthy border wall stop the ACLU shadow government from its plotting? It's policies that are really going to have the most effect. They probably need to build much better barriers in the well populated areas---b/c that's where the people are! The more remote areas should have high tech and aerial surveillance and let the wild critters roam undisturbed. in the populated areas you wouldn't have endangered critters, just dogs and assorted vermin. It's night and day.

The integrated fixed border towers surveillance gear was developed by Israelis---whose lives depend upon functional and affordable technology.https://www.dhs.gov/keywords/integrated-fixed-towers

You are so right - so very right.

We already have everything we need to stop illegal immigration - at the border - and to rid our country of the lawbreakers now here.

    Everything!!!!

Just use it - dust off those laws and use them.

Yes, we do have a shadow government that is working against us - but in all truth, we have our very own government/lawmakers openly working against us.

These people know the problem, they know the law and yet, how many have you heard come out and say with real feeling, "We need to fix this NOW'. None I know of.

We have some mealy-mouthed utterances, but no action.

This is the one thing that will destroy our nation. We can meet an army, we can thwart terrorists (given the chance), but we may not be able to fight the enemy that is already here. Especially, an enemy that is being aided and abetted, supported and subsidized by our very own lawmakers. Lawmakers from the smallest city council to Washington.

The illegals and/or their anchor babies are already in many places of power in this country and they are making decisions that are counter to American laws, and to the well being of American people.

This wall might take a couple of years. Just think how many more illegals or their children can get appointed to, elected to, hired by schools, universities, law enforcement, law firms. In two years, it could be a lot.
