Collin County officials have charged two men with felony illegal dumping after tracing items found among more than 3.5 tons of trash.

Eduardo Salazar and Eusebio Salazar, who were living in McKinney, admitted to illegally dumping trash north of U.S. Highway 380 near McKinney, said county Fire Marshal Steve Deffibaugh.

Eduardo Salazar is charged with two counts of felony illegal dumping, and his brother Eusebio is charged with one count. Each count carries a maximum penalty of two years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The men were being held in the Collin County Jail on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainers, Deffibaugh said.

The arrests are the first under a new county crackdown on illegal dumping.
