JERSEY CITY: A West New York man who repeatedly raped his teen-age daughter and made her throw away their two babies faces up to 35 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter and other charges yesterday in a deal with
prosecutors.

""Hell is missing one devil today. He's here,'' Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Michael D'Andrea said of the defendant. The Associated Press is not identifying the man to protect the identity of his daughter, who was the victim of a sex crime.

DNA tests showed the 46-year-old man fathered both children a girl, who died just after birth, and a boy, who survived with his daughter, who is now 18.

""The evidence is clear that he had been having relations with her within two weeks of her arrival here from El Salvador at the age of 13, and it continued until two weeks before she gave birth to their second child,'' D'Andrea said yesterday.

The father pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter, aggravated assault and two counts of aggravated sexual assault. The defendant, who is in this country illegally, could be deported back to El Salvador after completing his sentence, authorities said.

His daughter faces up to seven years in prison after pleading guilty in April to reckless manslaughter and aggravated assault.

In March, she admitted in court that she threw her newborn son down her third-story apartment's air shaft last September.

The daughter said her father had tossed her newborn daughter down the same air shaft two years before.

The boy suffered a fractured skull but survived the fall, which was broken by old cigarette packages. He is in state custody. The girl died; her body was found after the boy was discovered in the air shaft.

Her lawyer said the father threatened to kill his daughter if she told anyone that he had been raping and impregnating her. He is to be sentenced March 15.

No mention of immigration status? It's beyond me why the media continuously withholds this information. Did this "devil" bring his 13 year old daughter here just so he would have a sexual partner? What a repulsive story.

What is with these men and rape? It is almost a badge of courage, or something. We don't know if this guy was legal or not, but I am shocked to hear about the women who get raped as they are getting smuggled here from Mexico. If you were walking through the desert, wouln't that be the last thing on your mind?
