Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen M. Nielsen has ordered U.S. Customs and Border Protection to send 2,000 personnel to the U.S.-Mexico border to deal with the increase in migrants crossing the border.

Kirstjen and initially ordered 750 CBP officers be deployed to the border area.

“The crisis at our border is worsening, and DHS will do everything in its power to end it, Nielsen said in a statement. “We will not stand idly by while Congress fails to act yet again, so all options are on the table. We will immediately redeploy hundreds of CBP personnel to the border to respond to this emergency.”

Brownsville City Manager Noel Bernal said Friday that Border Patrol officials told him the agency would be dropping off more the 5,600 migrants in Brownsville, Harlingen and McAllen.

U.S. Border Patrol Sector Chief Agent Rodolfo Karisch earlier said that the releases were necessary because the Rio Grande Valley Sector’s resources are “overwhelmed and over-stretched.”

In view of the worsening crisis, doesn't make a lot of sense in my opinion.
