DML, Was just on the phone with a friend I’ve know literally all my life. We were discussing the status of our companies. He lives in New Mexico and I live in Oklahoma. We grew up in Dallas and went our perspective ways 30 years ago. We have kept up we each other over the years.
We were discussing the current effects of the illegal Mexicans in our industries, both being construction. In NM he was saying the illegals are running the state and determine the rate of pay and, require cash only. He won’t hire them but is having a hard time finding help to work at a rate that he can maintain profits and stay competitive. The other companies are hiring them and cutting legitimate contractors out.
Here in Oklahoma we have the same problem. Builders are building a cheap product and cutting profits so low we can’t compete without doing the same thing. For the first time in my life I feel like quitting the business. I’m 64 and have never felt so defeated in my life.
My fears are not for me but for my two sons that I’ve been training for their life time to take over my business. Now it’s a legacy lost to citizens of another country. A country that they help destroy by apathy and seek to glean the cream off this country and turn it into the same S-hole they came from.
I hate to say it but Trump is failing us supremely. I want to have hope in him but it’s fading fast. It must be true what they say. DC changes people once they get there. I am realizing that only pain will bring change, and Trump will never feel our pain.
Thanks for keeping the truth out in front of those that will listen. Problem is, you can lead a horse to water but, you can’t make him drink.
