Drunk Illegal Kills 25 yr old mother of 3 in Caldwell County
I just saw on the news, WBTV channel 3, that the 25 year old mother of 3 children that was killed yesterday on Hwy 321 (in Caldwell County), was killed by a drunk illegal. I did not get the local paper in Catawba County today and was told that the Caldwell County paper does not run on Mondays. I will try to post a link to this story as soon as one becomes available.

The drunk was a suspected illegal named Jose. The reporter asked if he had anything to say for himself and he said nothing, probably could not speak any English!

One in Prison Following Deadly Caldwell County Accident
A man sits in jail tonight after troopers say he crashed his car into a young mother killing her.
They believe he is an illegal immigrant and was driving drunk.
The crash happened early Sunday morning on US 321 in Granite Falls.
The woman's family tells us if it turns out the suspect was in fact driving drunk, she would be the second person in their family to be the victim of a deadly drunk driving accident.
WBTV's Steve Ohnesorge has the story. Press "PLAY" for the complete report.

Welcome jump_start. This happens too often in NC. Call your elected officials and ask them why they support illegal aliens. I just forwarded to Burr and Dole.

Crash kills mother of 3
By Nathan Key, News-Topic Managing Editor
An illegal immigrant is facing a felony death by vehicle charge along with four felony counts of inflicting serious injury with a motor vehicle following a crash that killed a Mitchell County woman early Sunday morning.
Troopers with the North Carolina Highway Patrol took Jose Delgado, of Rhodhiss, into custody Monday morning after he spent the night at Frye Regional Medical Center receiving treatment from injuries sustained in the two-vehicle collision that killed 26-year-old April Cooper of Bakersville.
According to reports from the Highway Patrol, Cooper was one of five occupants in a 1995 Saturn that was headed northbound on U.S. 321.
The Saturn, driven by Cooper's stepbrother Jacob Deal, was stopped in the left travel lane at the recently-installed stoplight in front of the new Wal-Mart SuperCenter on U.S. 321 for a steady red light, NCHP Sgt. D.D. Dawson said. Delgado merged into that lane of travel to make a left turn at the light, failed to reduce his speed and crashed into the car from the rear around 2:50 a.m.
Delgado had to be extricated from the 1988 Chevrolet Blazer he was driving by Granite Falls firefighters. He was taken by Caldwell County EMS to Frye in Hickory for treatment of his injuries. He was the only person in the vehicle, which was registered to a Hispanic female from Rhodhiss named Marcella Deorona.
Cooper, who was sitting in the middle rear seat, and Ethan Johnson, who was sitting in the right rear seat of the car, both were flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Cooper died at the hospital from injuries sustained in the crash, and Johnson was listed in serious condition Monday evening.
Deal, Eric Miller and Chassidy Hinton also were taken to Frye for treatment of their injuries.
[b]Troopers said they thought Delgado was “noticeably intoxicated.â€

MWilliams - Welcome. We're so glad you stopped in to tell us about your sister. I am so very sorry for your sister and your entire family. I simply cannot imagine the suffering you folks are having to endure. It is all too sad, but true, that you are not the only one here on our forum that this sort of thing has happened to. I know of others - but don't want to expose their identity here without their permission. But, yes, this type of thing happens too frequently and is totally preventable. God Bless.
There are a lot of things you can do to help, and I'll let many of or terrific posters offer suggestions in following posts here.
The short and simple answer is: get involved. Donate time to contact legislators, make donations to organizations in the cause (eg. ALIPAC as one example), spread the word among family and friends, etc. Most importantly, please do take the time to visit and stay informed and I'm certain you'll be amazed at the scope and scale of the information about immigration-related issues you'll find here. You'll become an expert in short order.
A somber, but most sincere, 'welcome aboard'.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

MWilliams,
I, too, want to welcome you but am at loss for words.
If our elected officials protected our borders this tragedy would not have happened to your sister.
Perhaps if you wrote letters to politicians maybe some of them would listen.
Please stay with us. You would have friends here to talk to if it helps.
Prayers to you and your family.
