Stash Houses Found by Laredo Sector Border Patrol and Partner Agency

Release Date: June 2, 2021

LAREDO, Texas – Laredo Sector Border Patrol and Laredo Police Department (LPD) find two stash houses in south Laredo.

The incident occurred during the evening of June 1, when agents along with LPD, conducted surveillance on two suspected stash houses in south Laredo. After observing suspicious activity, LPD and agents conducted a consensual search of both residences that resulted in the discovery of 18 individuals. Apprehended were 17 undocumented individuals from the country of Mexico, to include three noncitizen unaccompanied children, and one U.S. citizen involved in the human smuggling attempt. The group taken into custody by U.S. Border Patrol.

None of the individuals were wearing any personal protective equipment (PPE) when found. All the individuals were medically screened and taken into custody pending investigation. Despite COVID-19 infections among detainees, the smuggling and housing of large groups of individuals in stash houses without PPE not only endangers the people being smuggled, but the safety of our Nation.
