Donald Trump tweets on Easter that a deal for Dreamers is dead, deals with vandalism

WASHINGTON — There was little peace on Easter Sunday morning as President Trump tweeted that a deal for Dreamers was dead, and vandals appeared to have struck at his golf course in Florida.

Trump tweeted Sunday that U.S. Border Patrol Agents are unable to do their jobs because of the practice of "catch and release," in which immigrants caught without proper documentation are released as their cases wind through courts.

"Republicans must go to Nuclear Option to pass tough laws NOW," Trump tweeted. "NO MORE DACA DEAL!"

Let's dissect that quickly starting with DACA, which stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. The program provides deportation protection for nearly 700,000 undocumented immigrants brought to the country as children. In January a federal court ruled that the Trump administration used flawed legal reasoning when it decided to end the Obama-era program, and ordered it to continue processing DACA renewals.

The $1.3 billion budget deal passed by Trump and approved by Congress in late March did not include a deal on DACA, angering Trump who wanted a fix on for the program in exchange for money to pay for a wall on the border with Mexico.

"Mexico has got to help us at the border," Trump told reporters Sunday as he walked to church. "If they’re not going to help us at the border, it’s a very sad thing. Mexico has got help us at the border. And a lot of people are coming in because they want to take advantage of DACA."

On Sunday, as he has in the past, Trump called on Republicans to resort to the "nuclear option" and pass tough new laws on immigration. Senate rules require at least 60 votes to proceed to a vote on a bill. The "nuclear option" would require Republicans to change the rules, allowing for a vote with 51 votes.

Meanwhile, DACA remains in the courts where the 9th Circuit in California is expected to rule this summer. The Supreme court could accept the case as early as October, pushing the final ruling into 2019.

Trump continued to tweet on immigration, saying that Mexico was "doing very little, if not NOTHING" to stop the flow of immigrants. "NEED WALL."

Funding for the wall has been another frequent tweet target for Trump. The spending bill included $1.6 billion the border wall, far less than the $25 billion Trump has sought.

We want a 10 year moratorium on ALL immigration.

We want a quota of 5,000 PER WEEK deported until every last one of them is gone.

I can agree with everything but the deportation of 5,000 illegals per week. Unfortunately, at that rate we'll never get rid of them. 240,000 a year will take ...... well, it will take forever to deport them all.

If there's 30 million like we think, it would take 150 years assuming no more came in during that time period. See this is when a nation is completely overwhelmed by the numbers. There is only 1 way to deport the illegals here already and that is to authorize all state and local law enforcement agencies to enforce US immigration law without fear of federal retaliation or lawsuits. Feds can force them to do it, but they can authorize them to do it if they wish to do so. I think we'll be pleasantly surprised by the number who will gladly use this authority to enforce US immigration law. If every police officer arrested on average 2 illegal aliens a month, and there are 800,000 active sworn, trained, armed, equipped and paid police officers in the US, that's 1,600,000 a month. That's 19,200,000 per year and this frigging nightmare is over in less than 2 years in time for the 2020 election.

I've posted this before for years. There are bills sitting in Congress that do this. The President can also do it with an Executive Order.

It's time for action folks, it's time for state and local law enforcement to start aiding our country by arresting and detaining for deportation the illegal population in our country. They know who they are, where they are oh yes exactly what they're doing. They know where they work, where they run the drugs, where they operate all their enterprises. It's time to cut 'em loose and let them do their jobs without fear of reprisal, retaliation or lawsuit from the federal government. Feds will assist and expedite the deportation process to keep pace so that they're deported within hours or days and if ICE is overwhelmed, then call in the National Guards to get them out of here. Most of them don't need a plane, they need a ride. Move 'em out here the same way you move troops.

You're right, any plan that will work must include measures that will make the illegals lives so miserable they'll be forced to self-deport because we'll never have the resources to deport them all! A nationally mandated E-verify program and a very strong corporation/business inspection program is a good place to start. No more slaps on the wrist with nominal fines. Business owners, managers, etc. must go to prison if we really want the corporate world to take the crime of hiring and harboring illegals seriously. We must scare them straight!
