Dead Body with Gunshot Wound Found Near U.S-Mexico Border

A person was found dead Wednesday morning in an unincorporated area just north of the U.S.-Mexico border.

The body was found around 7 a.m. in the vicinity of Enrico Fermi Drive and Via de la Amistad, just east of Otay Mesa, Sheriff’s Lt. James Bolwerk said.

Sheriff’s officials could not immediately confirm how the person died, but 10News reported the body was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

Bolwerk said homicide detectives would launch an investigation.

Man's body found near U.S.-Mexico border

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - An investigation is underway after a body was found near the U.S.-Mexico border Wednesday morning.

A Border Patrol agent discovered the body of a Hispanic man around 6:00 a.m. on the U.S. side of the border just east of Otay Mesa.

Detectives report that the man had been shot multiple times in the upper body. He had a wallet on his person that contained identification, but investigators are still working to determine who his identity.

"At this point we don't know if that identification, it's still difficult to tell if that identification belongs to him. So we're unsure but it was identification from Mexico,” said Lt. John Maryon with the San Diego Sheriff's Department.
The body was turned over to the medical examiner who will perform an autopsy.

Investigators are asking any witnesses with information to contact the San Diego Sheriff's Department.

Authorities Identify Dead Man Found Near U.S. Border

The dead man found with multiple gunshot wounds in an unincorporated area just north of the U.S.-Mexico border was identified Thursday.

Oscar Resendiz Carcache was found by a U.S. Border Patrol agent Wednesday at around 6 a.m. about four miles from Enrico Fermi Drive and Via de la Amistad, just east of Otay Mesa, sheriff's Lt. John Maryon said.

The 24-year-old Mexican citizen was shot multiple times in the upper body.
