'Dreamer' bill to be brought to Senate floor in January: senator

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican U.S. Senator Jeff Flake on Wednesday said that a bipartisan immigration bill addressing the so-called Dreamers, young adults who were brought to the United States as children, would be debated on the Senate floor in January.

“Bipartisan #DACA bill will be on the Senate floor in January,” Flake wrote in a post on Twitter. President Donald Trump in September rescinded a program protecting the young adults from deportation but had asked Congress to devise a more permanent solution.

Flake said in an emailed statement that Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has promised to bring such a bill to the full Senate next month.

Aides to McConnell were not immediately available for comment.

A bipartisan group of senators led by Democrat Dick Durbin and Republican Lindsey Graham have been holding private negotiations over how many Dreamers would be covered by legislation giving them temporary legal status and whether they would ultimately be allowed to apply for U.S. citizenship.

The negotiations have been complicated by Republican demands that increased border security be included in any legislation.

Republicans also have been clamoring for more immigration enforcement throughout the United States. Democrats have been opposed to that as part of a Dreamer measure, saying it is a way for the Trump administration to step up its deportations of undocumented relatives of Dreamers, thus breaking up families currently in the United States.

– typically the majority leader – makes such a motion that the Senate proceed to a certain bill . . .

We need to inform him that first of all the DACA program is riddled with glitches, fraud and abuse. Many of those minors were old enough that they decided themselves to enter the US. I suppose a true, analytic report would show that only half of the DACA recipients were intended for this program in the first place.

2. We will just create a new class of entitlements as well as people dedicated to bringing more of the same in.
3. Even if they were here legally, they still can't lobby for foreign persons, except as registered agents.

I'd like to think the lines are busy because we're flooding them in the hopes of stopping DACA. However, as unfortunate as it is, I think the DACA supporters and the rest of the amnesty crowd are currently operating an organized effort to push DACA amnesty.

You're right though, we need to make ourselves heard on this issue!

Which is why I also call to the US DOJ and Sessions office. Why don't you get this? This is foreign lobbying----which is defined as lobbying on behalf of an organization, company, party or persons. SO they fit the last category. This can only go through registered lobbyists.

The US DOJ is supposed to be watching this, via the FARA Law.
