OCEANSIDE — Two men on a fishing boat off Oceanside were arrested after federal agents allegedly found 453 pounds of marijuana onboard, authorities said Tuesday.

Customs and Border Protection agents on a routine boat patrol stopped a 24-foot Wellcraft private fishing boat three miles from Oceanside Harbor about 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Agents searched the boat and found 98 packages of marijuana, valued at about $272,000, in hidden compartments, agency spokeswoman Jackie Wasiluk said.

The two men onboard, U.S. citizens ages 52 and 55, were arrested. The drugs, the boat and a truck and trailer for hauling the boat all were seized by federal authorities.
