IDAHO FALLS -- An eastern Idaho man is jailed in Texas after authorities say he brought four people across the Mexican border to the United States.

The Idaho Falls Post-Register reports Victorino Resendiz-Francisco of Roberts was arrested last week in Montgomery County.

Police says he was arrested with four others traveling on Texas' Interstate 45 that connects the border with cities including Dallas.

Resendiz-Francisco was apparently paid by the four to bring them to the United States, so he's been arrested on suspicion of felony smuggling of persons for monetary gain.

The four people arrested along with Resendiz-Francisco all listed Idaho Falls addresses and were charged with giving false information to an officer.

Providing false information to an officer and human smuggling are felonies punishable by two to 10 years in prison.
