Eight Democratic members of Congress were arrested today during an immigration protest on the National Mall.
Representatives Joe Crowley, Keith Ellison, Al Green, Raul Grijalva, Luis Gutierrez, John Lewis, Charlie Rangel, and Jan Schakowsky were all arrested after blocking traffic on Independence Avenue, which runs along the southern side of the National Mall.
Despite the government shutdown and the closure of national parks nationwide, the National Park Service said it was allowing the rally because of the First Amendment rights of the protesting groups, which include immigration-advocacy organizations as well as the Service Employees International Union and AFL-CIO. This was the same justification the Parks Service retroactively gave for allowing WWII veterans into their closed memorial last week.

The problem with this is that they will be released. Just more political theater for the ignorant.

Political theater? Surely there was more of a point than that! Just seems totally pointless and stupid to me, but hey, I'm a fairly logical person.

In what other country would legislators work so hard for illegals? Can't think of one.

Dem Congressmen, Amnesty Activists Arrested in Immigration Protest

by Matthew Boyle 8 Oct 2013, 4:37 PM PDT
    breitbart.com

Democratic Reps. Charles Rangel, Luis Gutierrez, Keith Ellison, Joseph Crowley, Al Green, and John Lewis, along with several other pro-amnesty activists, union members, and other left-wing protesters, got themselves arrested on purpose on Tuesday afternoon in a statement made in support of comprehensive immigration reform.

Only a few hundred demonstrators participated in the part of the rally that led to the arrests, while several thousand rallied on the National Mall earlier in the day.

NBC's Washington, D.C. affiliate reports 200 were arrested on scene while a couple hundred activists cheered the demonstrators on from the sidewalks on both sides of First Street between Maryland Avenue Southwest and Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest. Officers broke out barricades to keep activists on the sidewalk, as AFL-CIO and other union organizers wearing orange vests with their organizations’ namesakes emblazoned on the back organized the crowd.

Those lining the streets would cheer and chant things like “Yes we can!” and “Si Se Puede!” whenever another person volunteered to be arrested and whenever they were taken in groups into police transport units to be taken to the authorities for processing.

At least 150 Capitol Hill police officers were on scene to arrest the protesters who sought to be arrested. Capitol Hill police officers are not being paid as a result of the government shutdown, so they had to work for free.

The amnesty activists also littered signs, papers, flyers, and other materials for their cause along the street, forcing the unpaid Capitol Hill police officers to clean up the street in the shadow of the Capitol building up after them. Officers could be seen bending down to pick up the trash left along the sidewalks, as hundreds of amnesty activists cheered those being arrested.

Around 4:45 PM ET, the U.S. Capitol Hill Police “Command Center” emailed congressional staffers who are not on furlough, warning them against visiting the area for their own safety from the amnesty activists as they continued wrapping up the arrests. “The U.S. Capitol Police are continuing their response to demonstration activity,” the USCP Command Center wrote to staff. “Please continue to avoid the following area until further notice: First Street between Maryland Avenue, SW and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.”

UNION BOSS: ENFORCING LAW, DEPORTING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS A 'MORAL TRAGEDY'

    by MATTHEW BOYLE
    8 Oct 2013

National Education Association (NEA) executive director John Stocks decried law enforcement efforts to enforce United States immigration laws by deporting illegal immigrants in remarks at a union-sponsored rally on the National Mall on Tuesday.

Stocks made his remarks while several children wearing union-provided tee-shirts emblazoned with the phrases “Don’t deport my dad” and “Don’t deport my mom” standing behind him on stage.

“Every day in America, thousands of students are denied the American dream because of their legal status,” Stocks said. “Every day in America thousands of students don’t know if they will come home to find their parents. This is a moral tragedy, an injustice to the more than 3 million members of my union, the National Education Association.”

Stocks said that he and those the union represents--teachers--are supposed to be advocates for students.

“As educators, we advocate for our students in their classrooms every day,” Stocks said. “They are our students, the children who educators know by name, and by where they live. We advocate [for] them because they have dreams too and their dreams should be fulfilled. Forcing them to live in the shadows is not just, just because of their legal status."

"So, as the executive director of the National Education Association, we are standing together with our students to ensure they are not permanently stuck in second class status, locked out of our schoolhouses, and denied the opportunity of an education," he stated. "We will not stop at the NEA until we achieve a permanent solution that grants dignity and respect to immigrant workers, their families, and their children. The House of Representatives in the United States can make or break these children’s dreams.”

Stocks then turned introduced several of the children behind him to the crowd so they could tell their stories. Several of the children then told the crowd their stories, with some speaking in Spanish and others in English.

And here's the biggest problem with illegal aliens and their supporters--the inconsiderate, arrogant ATTITUDE that they display. They shouldn't have made such a mess in the first place, but the least they could have done was to help pick up their mess!!!

The kids in the above article look like they are bored, cranky and in need of a nap plus they look like they are old enough to be in school! Their parents should be ashamed of themselves. Also, normal parents don't use their kids for political grandstanding!

    NO AMNESTY

Don't reward the criminal actions of millions of illegal aliens by giving them citizenship.
