El Centro CBP U.S. Border Patrol Arrest Convicted Sex Offender

El Centro, California – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro station arrested a convicted sex offender Monday morning.

On May 9, agents working 22 miles west of Calexico, California, apprehended Juan Rodriguez-Estrada who had illegally crossed the U.S. - Mexico International Border.

While being processed by agents, record checks revealed that Rodriguez had a prior felony conviction for sexual battery in 1996 out of Fresno, California and was previously removed from the United States.

Rodriguez is currently awaiting prosecution proceedings.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
