El Centro Sector Border Patrol Disrupts Another Human Smuggling Attempt

On February 21, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico Station arrested three suspected alien smugglers.
The incident occurred at approximately 5 p.m., when agents observed three individuals climb over the United States/Mexico border fence and board a white 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix near the intersection of Aderholt Road and Carr Road east of Calexico. Agents successfully and safely stopped the vehicle by deploying a Controlled Tire Deflation Device as the driver attempted to flee. Agents approached the Grand Prix and arrested the 21-year-old male driver and 22-year-old passenger, both United States Citizens, and then two male passengers and one female passenger all citizens of Mexico. Border Patrol agents further established that one of the male illegal aliens aided in the smuggling attempt by acting as the foot guide.
The driver, front passenger, and identified foot guide were charged with alien smuggling and are in Border Patrol custody along with the passengers pending further investigation. The vehicle was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.
Two days earlier Border Patrol agents arrested three illegal aliens east of Calexico in a similar smuggling attempt.
