El Centro Sector Border Patrol Prevents Gang Member and Sex Offender from Further Entry into the United States

CALEXICO, Calif. – In two separate incidents, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico Station apprehended a registered sex offender, and a Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang member.
The first incident occurred on December 24, at approximately 4 a.m., when agents encountered a 26-year-old, Honduran Citizen, man near the United States/Mexico international border east of the Calexico port of entry. Record checks later revealed that the man is a registered sex offender and was previously convicted of felony kidnapping in 2004 in Hennepin County, Minnesota.
The second incident occurred on December 25, at approximately 4 a.m., when agents encountered a 23-year-old, Salvadorian Citizen, man near the United States/Mexico international border east of the Calexico port of entry. Records checks revealed that the man is a member of the MS-13 criminal organization.
The U.S. Border Patrol will seek prosecution on both individuals for illegal re-entry into the United States.
