Girl, 4, to reunite today with border-crosser mom

A Guatemalan child separated from her family after crossing illegally into the U.S. at Sasabe, will be reunited with her mother and sister in Philadelphia today.
On Thursday afternoon, 4-year-old Anai Duzul Galindo, was calm and in good spirits in the Mexican Consulate in Tucson as consulate and U.S. immigration officials sought to reunite the family.
The girl had spent two days and nights walking through the desert, before being separated from her family when smugglers split the family into groups. Then the group in which the girl traveled was arrested Wednesday night by Border Patrol agents, said Alejandro Ramos Cardoso, a spokesman for the Mexican Consulate in Tucson.
On Tuesday, the girl's mother, Maria de Jesus Galindo, 45, and an 11-year-old sister had been arrested by agents, he said.
Galindo told agents that a man carrying her daughter Anai, and others eluded the agents and returned to Mexico.
That report set off a search by Mexican authorities.
Mexican Consulate officials later learned that Galindo and her daughter had been taken to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center in Philadelphia.
The family will likely be returned to Guatemala within two weeks, an immigration official said.

im not too worried about it as long as they go back. The poor child being herded like sheep and separated from her mom. Those dirty smugglers are the inhumane ones, not us. See we reunite families and then send them to their countries

Why would a mother allow someone, anyone, to separate her from her children? This just doesn't make any sense to me.

And not be criminally charged with neglect or endangerment, like an American who did the same would be.
