“Moderate” Muslim Canadian TV guest expert: Islamic State supported by West & America

The editor of CIJ News, Jonathan Halevi, states in his article below:

“Imam Syed Soharwardy of Calgary, the head of the Calgary-based Islamic Supreme Council of Canada and the founder of Muslims Against Terrorism, is often invited by CBC as a guest expert to discuss issues related to terrorism and radicalization. He is introduced as a moderate voice in the Muslim community who “has worked to prevent the radicalization of youth in Canada.”

In a “top story” on CBC, Soharwardy blamed the West and America for supporting the Islamic State. Disturbingly, he remains a prominent “moderate” spokesman for the Muslim community; he is regularly featured in the media and well known as the wonderful imam who delivered a fatwa against the Islamic State and its recruiting efforts in Canada. Yet his true colors show up in his anti-West, anti-Jew, pro-Sharia statements:

“Sharia cannot be customized for specific countries. These universal, divine laws are for all people of all countries for all times.”

“I am one of the founding members of the Islamic Institute of Civil Justice. The mandate of the institute is to resolve disputes within existing Canadian laws by using the principles of conflict resolution from Islamic Law, or sharia.”

“Presently, what Israeli forces are doing to Palestinians is worse than the Holocaust of World War II.”

Spokespersons (like Soharwardy) for mainstream Muslim organizations habitually tell lies about violent jihad not being part of Islam; these are routinely embraced without question. They also try to distance themselves from the Islamic State and promote the “blame the West” narrative while discounting the violence that is pervasive in Islamic states historically and in their founding. Leftists simply lap up their words and give them reprieve and a platform to continue their propaganda against the West and quest for global Sharia.

In a Huffington Post article, Muslim Canadian Munir Pervaiz states:

“North American Islamists have changed their tune and today try to conceal the true meaning of the word Jihad, insisting it has nothing to do with holy war, but is a ‘struggle’ against one’s ego. I wish that were true, but it isn’t.

To give the jihadis credit, unlike their Islamist backers, they speak the truth and are averse to doublespeak.”

Soharwardy has also stated his views about terrorism in detail on his Facebook page. As indicated in the article below, “he emphasizes that Islam and Muslims are not the cause for terrorist attacks in the name of Islam.”

Yet Soharwardy promotes the Sharia, and he knows full well that violent jihad is a practice that is considered an obligation and supremely holy, not just by the Islamic State, Al Qaeda, and overtly violent jihadist groups, but also by the Muslim Brotherhood, to which many mainstream Western Muslim organizations are linked. Hasan Al-Banna, who founded the Muslim Brotherhood, stated in his treatise about jihad:

All Muslims Must Make Jihad

Jihad is an obligation from Allah on every Muslim and cannot be ignored nor evaded. Allah has ascribed great importance to jihad and has made the reward of the martyrs and the fighters in His way a splendid one. Only those who have acted similarly and who have modeled themselves upon the martyrs in their performance of jihad can join them in this reward. Furthermore, Allah has specifically honoured the Mujahideen {those who wage jihad} with certain exceptional qualities, both spiritual and practical, to benefit them in this world and the next. Their pure blood is a symbol of victory in this world and the mark of success and felicity in the world to come.

iThe Muslim Association of Canada is viewed as moderate – like Imam Soharwardy — and is highly regarded as a dialogue-friendly organization; it has community centers and mosques across Canada, yet it openly declares its roots to the Muslim Brotherhood on its website, on which Al-Banna is praised.

MAC’s roots are deeply enshrined in the message of Prophet Mohammad. Its modern roots can be traced to the vigorous intellectual revivalist effort that took hold in Muslim societies starting in the early twentieth century. This revival aimed at reconciling faith with the challenges of modernity and providing a clear articulation of balance and moderation in understanding Islam. In the Arab world, this revival culminated in the writings of the late Imam Hassan al-Banna and the movement of the Society of Muslim Brothers (commonly known as the Muslim Brotherhood). Al-Banna’s core messages of constructive engagement in society, focus on personal and communal empowerment, and organizational development had a deep impact on much of the Muslim world.

The MAC holds its annual conference with the unindicted co-conspirator known as the Islamic Circle of North America. The Winnipeg Free Press did an expose on the “terrorists in our midst”.

When will Western mass media and authorities wake up and realize that stealth jihadists run rings around the West and are well advanced toward achieving their goal of civilizational jihad?

“CBC guest expert: ISIS is funded and supported by the US and the West”, by Jonathan Halevi,
CiJ News, July 17, 2016:

Imam Syed Soharwardy of Calgary, the head of the Calgary-based Islamic Supreme Council of Canada and the founder of Muslims Against Terrorism, is often invited by CBC as a guest expert to discuss issues related to terrorism and radicalization. He is introduced as a moderate voice in the Muslim community who “has worked to prevent the radicalization of youth in Canada.”

On his Facebook page, Soharwardy elaborates in detail his views on terrorism. He emphasizes that Islam and Muslims are not the cause for terrorist attacks in the name of Islam. The culprits, according to Soharwardy, are the Salafis, the Wahabis and the Deobandis. He also went on to say that “DAESH (ISIS), Al Qaeda, Taliban, Al Shabab, Al Nusra, Lashkar Taiba, Lashkar Jhangwi, etc.. are all followers of Wahabi beliefs” and all are not Muslims.”

Soharwardy accuses the Saudi Wahabi regime, the United States and West of funding and supporting the Wahabi / Salafi movements including ISIS. The following are excerpts from Soharwardy’s postings on Facebook:

December 8, 2015 [archive] – “The root cause of terrorism in the name of Islam is not Islam OR Muslims. Its Wahabism supported, funded and trained by the western governments… The reason is that the governments want to protect Wahabism and support it in the background in order to use Wahabi terrorism to blame Islam and Muslims. Anti-Islam and anti-Muslim propaganda is highly saleable in the west.”

November 24, 2015 [archive] – “ISIS is Wahabi not Muslim… Islam is all about peace and coexistence with other religions and communities while Wahabism is all about violence and domination… Find the source of arson and the arsonist. The source is CIA, etc.. and the arsonist is a “Fanatic” Wahabi (not all Wahabis).”

November 22, 2015 [archive] – “This is the truth that there are few Muslims who follow Wahabi / Salafi beliefs are getting money, training, weapons and support from the Western agencies and they are carrying out terrorism in the world.”

February 6, 2015 [archive] – “Stop linking Muslims and Islam with terrorism. There is no such thing as ”Islamic terrorism”, “Muslim terrorist”, “Jihadist”, “Islamist”. Stop using Islamic terminology for terrorists’ actions. Terrorist organizations like Taliban, ISIS, etc. were initiated, funded, supported by the United States, Saudi Arabia and other western countries to fight for them against the Soviet Union and Bashar Al Asad…..
