Topics: NC, Illegal Immigration, Laws, Crimes, Security, Licenses, In-state tuition
William Gheen is president of the Americans for Legal Immigration PAC based in Raleigh...

'North Carolina has around half-a-million illegal aliens and is ranked as one of the fastest-growing illegal alien populations in America. ...

Read the latest headlines about illegal immigration.

'If this [tuition] law were to pass, the onslaught of illegal aliens rushing with their children could be highly destructive to many quality-of-life issues, such as health care, K-12 schools, traffic, law enforcement, prison and jail space, community health -- illegal aliens bring a host of diseases -- the state budget and community safety.

'North Carolinians are standing up across the state and saying, "Enough is enough." We have received hundreds of e-mails, and we're ranging from 10 to 25 calls per day, and multiple inquiries from lawmakers and media. North Carolinians have been kept in the dark on this crisis. Traditional media has not reported the scale of our problem before this point. Why? I can only speculate.

'The right thing to do is enforce our existing immigration laws. Children that are foreign nationals, many of them return to attend college in their home countries, which is good because many of their home countries would like to share in the American dream, and their help is needed at home. America allows more people to legally immigrate each year than any nation in the world, approximately 1.2 million. We do not have the labor need for the other 2-3 million that will enter illegally this year.

'We hope to kill House Bill 1183 and move forward to secure our [driver's] licenses to only those who are legally present, and push even further to pass legislation similar to Arizona's Proposition 200, which prevents illegal aliens from receiving non-federally mandated tax services, such as welfare, tuition, tuition grants and the like.

We need to put partisanship aside and do what is right to save North Carolina from the fate of California. Their state budget is destroyed, and their hospitals and schools are closing because they are overwhelmed with illegal aliens who receive free education and health care via emergency rooms at taxpayer expense. Seventy-seven hospitals in our four border states -- California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas -- had to declare bankruptcy last year. We're next, along with several other states.'

How strong do you feel any legitimate (not the race card liberals) opposition against your efforts are?

Only about 10 percent of the NC population supports this bill.

Unfortunately it has high level support from Ex 3 term Governor Jim Hunt, the illegal Latino Lobby, and at least 26 lawmakers in the house.

It may still pass, but it is generating a political revolt on this issue. The legislation will fail or the politicians involved with it will eventually fail.

    One, the other, or both!

Good luck.Isn't it amazing how fast their (the illegals) adult population grows almost over night?Be aware also of the next wave of narco money laundering prevalent here in Ca.:Taco stands and Mexican restaurants way less frequent-used tire/fixit shops.I'm not kidding.
