A local KFOR sportscaster/director was killed yesterday after being hit by a hispanic without a license while riding his motorcycle. The perp also had cocaine in his vehicle.

Of course there was no mention of his legal status.

KFOR Sports Director Bob Barry, Jr killed in NW Oklahoma City accident, driver arrested

OKLAHOMA CITY– KFOR Sports Director Bob Barry, Jr died in a crash Saturday afternoon in Northwest Oklahoma City.
Police say the accident happened near Memorial and North May Avenue around 4:00 p.m.

Barry was riding a motor scooter southbound on North May when police say Gustavo Gutierrez-Castillo, 26, unlicensed driver made an illegal U-Turn in front of him.

He hit the driver’s side of the car and was thrown over 20 feet.

Barry was not wearing a helmet.

He was rushed to OU Trauma Center where he was pronounced dead.

Police have arrested the driver of the car for manslaughter, driving without a state license and causing an injury accident. Police also say he was in possession of cocaine.

OKLAHOMA CITY -The Oklahoma City Police say they have arrested the 26-year-old driver who made an illegal U-Turn causing the fatal accident that killed local sports journalist Bob Barry Jr.

The driver of the car is identified as 26-year-old Gustavo Gutierrez-Castillo. He is currently being held in the Oklahoma City Jail without bond.

Castillo is accused of first degree manslaughter, drug possession, and performing an illegal U-turn.

OKLAHOMA CITY -A man, accused of making an illegal U-turn and causing a crash that killed local broadcasting giant Bob Barry Jr., has been arraigned Monday morning.

According to authorities, 26-year-old Gustavo Castillo-Gutierrez is being held on $18,500 bond. He was arrested on multiple complaints, including first-degree manslaughter, drug possession, making an illegal U-turn, and driving without a license.

A video arraignment for Castillo-Gutierrez was held at 11 a.m. Monday. A judge told Castillo-Gutierrez that he will be appointed a public defender.

During his arraignment, Castillo-Gutierrez kept his head down low and did not say a word.

On Saturday, police said Barry was on his motorcycle in the left lane on May near Memorial when Castillo-Gutierrez was driving in the right lane. Police said Castillo-Gutierrez made an illegal U-turn in front of Barry, and Barry was thrown from the motorcycle after crashing into Castillo-Gutierrez's car.

A police report states Castillo-Gutierrez told officers he was trying to turn when he hit Barry. Castillo-Gutierrez refused to go to the hospital but he was taken there anyway, and doctors did draw his blood for a blood test and officers did find a packet of white powder in his wallet that tested positive for cocaine.

News 9 confirmed with the judge's office Monday morning that Castillo-Gutierrez has an "immigration hold," which confirms he's suspected of being in the country illegally.

Now even if Castillo-Gutierrez were to make bond, he would still be held in jail because of that immigration hold. Police did find a Mexican ID card on him.

Barry's funeral is set for this Friday at 11 a.m. at Crossings Community Church .
