Politicians create an illusion that they are against illegal immigration, but they really want to keep the current system in place to help their careers, former INS special agent Michael Cutler told Newsmax TV.
During an appearance on "Newsmax Now," Cutler told co-hosts Bill Tucker and Julio Rivera that things are backward.
"Look at it this way, politicians are like the magician that promises to cut the woman in half," Cutler said. "He knows darn well if he cuts her in half he won't be able to have her help him in the next show and he'll probably go to jail. So he's not going to cut the woman in half.
"Politicians are illusionists just as that magician is. They really want the cheap labor. They want the money from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, they just want to create the illusion that they stand behind immigration enforcement."
Cutler noted that President Donald Trump is standing up to the problem of illegal immigration and is getting attacked from both flanks.
"Trump is the first president in decades to actually want to secure Americans' borders and enforce Americans' immigration laws," Cutler said. "That's why he's getting attacked from both sides of the aisle.
Several companies built eight prototypes of border wall that the U.S. government may construct along America's border with Mexico. Trump would like to replace 14 miles of existing wall in San Diego and build an additional 60 miles in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas.
