Just as we can’t forget the dope peddlers when we speak of reducing drug crime, so can we not forget about the illegal alien smugglers when we speak about reducing the passage of illegal aliens into our country. As FSM Contributing Editor Mike Cutler observes, these ruthless criminals need to be stopped, arrested and jailed…now.

    Alien Smugglers Are Ruthless Criminals

The issue of the alien smugglers is of great concern. I was assigned to the very first alien smuggling squad in New York City in the late 1970's and was struck by the brutality and lack of any humanity that were the hallmarks of many of those who smuggled illegal aliens into the United States. The fact that such criminals would use a child as a bargaining chip to bring pressure against the child's parents in attempting to receive payment for "services rendered" represents an escalation in the brutality that alien smugglers are willing to employ as a tactic. This should make the true nature of these criminals abundantly clear.

Children are also kidnapped and sold to people who have no legitimate way of adopting children so they "buy" the children of smuggled aliens. This is a very disturbing trend, especially since these smugglers carry out such kidnappings in broad daylight, and in Florida, a great distance from the Mexican border. Kidnappings have long been a widespread problem in Latin America and now, it would seem that this sort of crime is increasingly carried out within our own country by criminals from Latin America. This is another example of criminal activities crossing our borders and endangering our nation. We should all be concerned that the kidnapping of infants by criminals who then sell those babies on a "black market" could spread to people who have no relationship to alien smugglers and indeed, might pose a threat to American citizens.

This is only one more reason why I am greatly concerned that our borders are not adequately protected. Alien smugglers are the most opportunistic you can find. They consider their human cargo to be nothing more than cargo. They often rape young girls, and beat and rob the aliens who hire them to facilitate their illegal entry into the United States. They will generally move any cargo or person for the "right price." Alien smugglers would not have any compunction against moving terrorists into the United States nor would they hesitate to move weapons.

Recently, right here in Florida, a knife-wielding criminal stole a baby right our of her mother’s arm, reportedly to deliver a message from smugglers that they wanted money for bringing the infant's parents illegally to America from Brazil. This is of great concern, because there is a region in Brazil known as the "Three Border Region." Reportedly terrorist training camps operate in that area, controlled by Hezbollah and possibly other Middle-East based terrorist organizations. Should terrorists and smugglers in Brazil form a working alliance, terrorists could avail themselves of the "services" of the smugglers to enter the United States to carry out attacks inside the United States.

Meanwhile, the Washington Times recently ran a Jerry Seper story entitled, "Fed-Mexico plan eases bank transfers" a copy of that article can be found at:

    http://www.washtimes.com/national/20061 ... -6126r.htm

The article reported on how the United States Federal Reserve Bank has entered into a joint program with Banco de Mexico to facilitate the movement of money from the United States to Mexico. I have copied two segments of the newspaper article that are worth considering: I have highlighted those passages from the article.

The Federal Reserve Bank and Banco de Mexico are jointly touting a new program known as "Directo a Mexico" that will allow U.S. banks and financial institutions to more easily send money transfers to bank accounts in Mexico.
Offering "more pesos for every dollar," the first-time program gives U.S. banks and financial institutions direct electronic access to more than 41 million accounts in Mexico, but U.S. law-enforcement authorities and others fear it could be abused by migrants illegally in this country, crime syndicates and would-be terrorists.
The taxpayer-subsidized program "seems designed to facilitate the transfer of wealth by illegal immigrants to bank accounts outside the United States," said Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, a Washington-based public watchdog agency.
Mr. Fitton said the program "undermines our nation's immigration laws and is a potential national security nightmare."

Colorado-based Western Union agreed to pay a $3 million fine to the state in response to government worries about lax record keeping and that some transfer agents were involved in sending money to Mexico and Latin America that was tied to money laundering, drug and smuggling rings.

Once again it would appear that national security and the safety of our citizens have been trumped by our government so that banks and other corporate interests can make more money, literally at the expense of our country and our citizens.

Additionally, when those who claim to be advocates for "alien rights" speak about the need to enable illegal aliens to achieve lawful status in the United States, they know that the promise of that status will motivate many more aliens to risk life and limb to employ smugglers so that they can come to this country. The aliens who live in squalor in their home countries are so desperate that they will assume any risk or mistreatment in order to create better opportunities for themselves and the people who claim to be advocates for illegal aliens are, in fact, willing to exploit them in order to achieve greater political leverage in the United States.

The politicians who favor the flow of illegal aliens into our country also must realize that the promise of a guest worker amnesty program will generate many more "customers" for the unscrupulous smugglers. To the politicians it is all about votes and campaign contributions. Even the politicians in the home countries from which the illegal aliens come are involved in this outrageous situation - they know that by sending their citizens to the United States, they are exporting the possibility of insurrection and will ultimately see money sent back to their country from the United States.

Illegal aliens are pushed towards the United States, and to the brutal and avaricious smugglers who await them along the border, by the grinding poverty of their home countries. Our nation was split in two by the Civil War which any American school child will tell you was fought over the issue of slavery. Of course slavery was about cheap and compliant labor. So while our nation outlawed slavery, the desire for cheap and exploitable labor is still a component of the American economy. Those who promote the disastrous guest worker amnesty program often make the point, "The illegal aliens do the work Americans won't do." As I have stated on prior occasions, I have seen the videos of the coal miners who died in West Virginia a couple of years ago and those men were American citizens. As long as there are citizens of our nation who will work in coal mines, steel foundries or construction sites; as long as there are Americans who will drive garbage trucks or, as we saw on September 11, 2001, jump on the back of fire engines and race into blazing buildings in an effort to save the lives of utter strangers; then there are few jobs indeed, that Americans won't do, provided that when they receive their pay and be able to support themselves and their families by the hard work they have performed.

The time has come for the exploitation of illegal aliens to cease and for our nation's borders to be secured. The time has come to end any trade agreements with other countries if the supposed prosperity that will result from these treaties is not passed along to the citizens of these other countries to help reduce their need to violate our borders in order to seek employment in the United States. Today some of Mexico's most valuable exports are its own citizens and this is not acceptable!

I read a study that indicated that two years ago the amount of money that was wired to Latin America and the Caribbean from the United States was roughly 30 billion dollars. It is expected that by year's end some 45 billion dollars will have been wired there this year. That represents a 50% increase in the amount of money that is wired to those two regions. All things being equal, it would be reasonable to assume that this reflects a 50% increase in the number of aliens in the United States from the relevant countries. Many of those aliens are presumably illegally present in the United States. Those smugglers must be working overtime!

The alien smugglers represent many things to many people. Mostly they represent a threat to the safety of our nation and to those aliens who would employ them. The failure of our nation to secure our borders has also apparently emboldened these ruthless criminals. It is clear that we are at risk and it is time for the United States government to shoulder its responsibilities to its citizens. This should have been done many years ago, especially after the attacks on the World Trade Center in 1993 as well as in 2001. We cannot change the past but we can determine our future. For our nation's future to be bright, our borders and the immigration system need to be secured against those who would kill us. The appropriate actions are long overdue.

Lead, follow or get out of the way!

Alien smuggling is big business. Many former drug runners in Miami are now human smugglers and I am sure it is the same elsewhere. I knew a man with a yacht and he was had been approached by Cubans to smuggle their relatives in. If he had a go fast boat he could make a minimum of $25,000 profit for each run he made.
As many former drug runners are human smugglers, they are still as violent and ruthless as they were when they ran drugs.
