The Daily Caller’s Richie McGinniss visited the U.S. southern border in Arizona to take a look at the new border wall.

Chief Patrol Agent of the Yuma Sector Anthony Porvaznik told McGinniss that the new 30-foot wall will help prevent undocumented immigrants from evading law enforcement. He pointed out that the old wall and new wall create a corridor that limits escape options.

The old border wall, which had no underground foundation, is made of steel and left border agents vulnerable to attack due to the wall completely shielding illegal immigrants approaching it.

The new wall protects agents if they stand at acute angles and will allow them to see anyone approaching the border through four inch slats between concrete posts.

Construction of the wall began after Senior Patrol Agent Luis A. Aguilar was killed in 2008 trying to stop a smuggler. President Donald Trump signed a plaque attached to a section of the border wall back in June to mark 200 miles of wall completion, part of his 2016 campaign promise to ‘Build The Wall.’
