GREENFIELD — A Mexican government official Wednesday night urged members of a rural indigenous group to respect U.S. marriage laws, even it means going against their cultural traditions.

Adults of the Triqui community from Mexico transplanted in south Monterey County, cannot exercise their customs and marry minors in the United States, said Jose Loreto, a deputy consul of Mexico headquartered in San Jose.

Loreto addressed a crowd of about 200 people in the Greenfield High School gymnasium who had shown up for the Triqui community’s monthly meeting.

Hey Loreto, how about doing your job and tell them to respect ALL US laws, especially the one about illegal immigration, hmm?

Good grief! ACLU will probably file a lawsuit next claiming the U.S. denies the Triquis their national customs.

I am happy about one thing: the Mexican consulates seem to be teaching the old "when in Rome, do as the Romans do".

Seems like Child Protective Services, the FBI and ICE should have all gone in and arrested these pedophiles.

This is coming from the same consulates that aid and abet them in illegally crossing the border, identity theft and stealing social security, welfare, food stamps and other benefits using multiple identities. It is amazing and disgusting at the same time when we have to teach these lawless uneducated 19th century third world savages to act like human beings when the rape of women and children as young as 10 (even though the age of consent is only 12 in the third world rocks from which they crawled out from under) is accepted practice.
