Minor League Team Cuts Outfielder Danry Vasquez After Released Video Shows He Beat Girlfriend

A minor league baseball team has cut outfielder Danry Vasquez, after surveillance video surfaced showing him repeatedly beating his girlfriend in a stadium stairwell.

The player was arrested in Texas in 2016 for domestic abuse, but despite the video evidence the court gave him probation, according to TMZ Sports.

The video leaves no doubt of the player’s actions.



Still, the Vasquez case was dismissed recently because the player fulfilled his probation without further offense.

Nueces County District Attorney Mark Gonzalez noted that the case was dismissed because Vasquez “had done everything we asked him to do,” KRIS reported.

Vasquez was playing for the Astros’ AA affiliate the Corpus Christi Hooks at the time of the incident, but has since moved on to the AA team the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball (ALPB). But since the video went public, the Barnstormers cut the player.

“Upon being made aware of the nature of the incident, the Barnstormers made a prompt decision to cut ties with the 24-year old,” a spokesman for the Barnstormers said on Tuesday.

Barnstormer manager Ross Peeples added, “There is no choice but to sever the relationship. Neither I, nor the Barnstormers’ organization as a whole, can condone or associate with that behavior.”
The ALPB is not affiliated with Major League Baseball, but serves as a farm system to develop young players, some of whom end up in the big league.

Danry Vasquez's attorney tells Judge he can't find his client

Danry Vasquez is accused of physically assaulting his girlfriend.

CORPUS CHRISTI -An attorney, who represents a former Corpus Christi Hooks player accused of physically assaulting his girlfriend, says he doesn't know where his client is.
Police say Danry Vasquez backhanded his girlfriend across the face, knocking her down the stairs, at Whataburger Field last year.

Court documents say the incident was caught on surveillance video. The incident came to light in August, and Vasquez was released from the team a short time later.
Vasquez's attorney was supposed to let the court know if his client will be ready for trial Monday.

The judge told the attorney to find Vasquez

Vasquez was a no-show in court, back on January 17. His lawyer told the judge that his client was stuck in Venezuela because his visa had expired. A judge then gave Vasquez a 30-day continuance.
