Feds Arrest 128 Mexicans In California Gang Sweep

SAN DIEGO --

Dozens of people connected to violent gangs are now off the streets of North County, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.

ICE agents said they arrested a total of 128 people during a sweep. All of those arrested are Mexican citizens, officials said. The sheriff's department said many of the arrests took place around Autumn Drive and Pico Avenue in San Marcos.

Sixty of those arrested are gang members or associated with gangs, officials said. The other 68 are suspected illegal immigrants, many with criminal records. All of them will be deported, according to ICE agents.

The arrests were made during the past two weeks in the largest local dragnet carried out as part of ICE's Operation Community Shield.

The multi-agency operation targeted gang members and associates in Vista, Oceanside, Escondido and San Marcos.

Ok...deport them, but secure our borders so they can't return!

Man, ICE has been busy in this area. About time!

Think last I heard they had made 60 gang arrests.

I never use to hear of ICE around here or in this state for that matter.
They've surely worked some here but it must have been rare.

Video said Escondido and Oceanside police helped ICE in their investigation. Big thank you to those cities.

No telling what these arrests have prevented from happening to innocent people in the future.
