Huntsville drone company partners with I.C.E.
Huntsville company partners with Immigration and Customs Enforcement
POSTED 4:56 PM, AUGUST 11, 2014, BY DAVID KUMBROCH
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – System Dynamics International in Research Park handles some sensitive information.
CEO Pamela White explains, “We’re involved in all aspects of UAV’s, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, otherwise known today as drones.”
So it makes sense for them to work hand in hand with the Department of Homeland Security.
They’ve worked for a two years to get a partnership with ICE, or Immigration and Customs Enforcement, worked out.
IMAGE – the ICE Mutual Agreement Between Government and Employers – requires a little extra paperwork to ensure all workers receive proper verification.
It puts SDI in unique territory.
Special Agent Raymond Parmer notes, “There are about 250 around the country who have become full IMAGE members.”
They’re one of only a handful of Alabama companies, and they’re the first in our part of the state.
Having the extra assurance lets ICE focus on other companies.
They hope other Research Park firms will follow suit, because it makes their job easier.
Parmer explains, “I think so. I think the more exposure that the program gets, the more that sign up, I think it’s a self-perpetuating success story. I think the more people learn and the more exposure we get like this, the more participation I think we’ll get in the program.”

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAAY) - Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents say they are concerned about illegals reaching non-border states, including Alabama.
ICE Special Agent in Charge Raymond Parmer, Jr. says illegal immigrants can pose a security risk to Huntsville-area businesses. Agents are putting an emphasis on investigating those who seek employment with military contractors, as they don't want undocumented workers stealing identities.
Where's the story?Parmer says, "With the technological and defense industries based here its also what the Department of Homeland Security perceives to be a potential national security vulnerability."2 Points Mentioned
He's also concerned with some businesses willingly hiring illegal aliens just to cut labor costs, as he believes it hurts the American economy.
