(CNN) - A group of about 80 members of the migrant caravan arrived Sunday in the Mexican city of Tijuana, on the border with the United States, according to José María García Lara, from a shelter in the city called Juventud 2000.

The group of migrants, consisting mainly of women, children and members of the LGBT community, arrived in two vehicles from Mexico City, García Lara told CNN.
The main contingent of the migrant caravan continues its journey mainly on foot and arrived on Sunday in Irapuato, a city 320 kilometers north of Mexico City.
At this rate, the bulk of the migrant caravan could reach Tijuana in eight days, although CNN can not confirm the exact date.
