Garden Ridge police arrested two suspects Monday accused of stealing mail, credit cards and checks from at least seven victims in Comal County.

Bryan James Duenas, 35, and Mayra Salinas, 26 , both face a charge of fraudulent use of between 10 and 50 items of identifying information, a second-degree felony. Salinas also faces a charge of marijuana possession.

Both remain in the Comal County Jail; Duenas on a $10,000 bond and Salinas on a $10,750 bond.

Garden Ridge investigator William Piller said police arrested the two after receiving an anonymous tip from a caller reporting a suspicious man and woman walking around in their neighborhood. When police stopped Duenas and Salinas to question them, they allegedly found stolen documents, which included mail, credit cards and checks belonging to at least seven victims. Piller said the mail was stolen in different locations in Comal County.

Piller said police aren't sure when the duo began stealing the mail.

"We're not even sure if it's related to other cases. There are so many groups doing it these days," he said, adding that most thieves target mailboxes from about Christmas to the end of tax season.

If convicted of the second-degree felony charge, the duo faces up to 20 years in prison.
