FL - Cops seek more suspects in grisly murder of Coral Springs businessman

Authorities arrested one man this week and charged him with the brutal killing of a Coral Springs businessman whose dismembered body was discovered nearly five years ago in a rusted metal box.

But more accomplices are still being sought, Coral Springs police said Friday.

"We do believe that there are additional suspects," Lt. Joe McHugh said. "This investigation is still ongoing."

Capping an investigation by Coral Springs and Palm Beach Gardens detectives, as well as agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Marshal's Office, Honduran native Gustavo Adolfo Enamorado-Dubon, 22, was indicted by a grand jury on charges of first-degree murder and armed kidnapping.

Enamorado-Dubon is accused in the killing of Francisco Cuevas, 47, whose skull, pieces of his torso and shoulder, and left foot were found in a box by workers clearing brush alongside a road in Palm Beach Gardens in April 2008.

Cuevas was co-owner of Pyro Industries in Pompano Beach, which made metal products such as kitchen hoods for businesses. Family members last heard from him on Nov. 2, 2007, and he was reported missing four days later.

Earlier this month, Coral Springs officials authorized spending $30,000 in drug forfeiture funds to help solve the case.

According to federal court documents from Texas, Enamorado-Dubon was deported in June to his native Honduras. He returned again to the United States by crossing the Rio Grande River from Mexico to Texas and was caught by Border Patrol agents in September, the documents stated.

McHugh said Enamorado-Dubon became a suspect in July 2010 after a Spanish-language television program from Palm Beach Gardens aired a segment on Cuevas' murder.

"That show actually prompted an individual to contact investigators and provide Mr. Dubon's name," McHugh said.

Detectives haven't identified the other suspects. "We're still trying to determine who the additional suspects are," he said.
