FL: Rep. Tom. Rooney Assails DREAM Act as Incentive for Ille

Rep. Tom. Rooney Assails DREAM Act as Incentive for Illegality

As Harry Reid and the Democrats dream of passing a soft amnesty program during the lame duck session, U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney says to count him out -- with one exception.

The Tequesta Republican issued the following statement on the DREAM Act, which would allow illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children to gain legal resident status if they enroll in college or join the military:

“Immigration is fundamentally a national security issue, which is why any immigration reform must secure our borders, uphold the law, and reward those who follow the rules.

“Passing the DREAM Act would provide another incentive for individuals to come here illegally. Granting benefits to students who are here illegally would worsen our immigration problem and undermine the rule of law.

“I strongly oppose provisions that would make students who are here illegally eligible for in-state tuition breaks. Taxpayer money should absolutely not subsidize the higher education of illegal immigrants.

“While I do not support the DREAM Act, I would be willing to consider a stand-alone bill that would grant legal residence status to anyone who puts on the uniform and serves in the U.S. military.â€

Latino gang graffiti is showing up in Iraq: Gangs claim their turf in Iraq. (Hat tip: LGF readers.) http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst ... gs01.html#

The Gangster Disciples, Latin Kings and Vice Lords were born decades ago in Chicago’s most violent neighborhoods. Now, their gang graffiti is showing up 6,400 miles away in one of the world’s most dangerous neighborhoods — Iraq.

Armored vehicles, concrete barricades and bathroom walls all have served as canvasses for their spray-painted gang art. At Camp Cedar II, about 185 miles southeast of Baghdad, a guard shack was recently defaced with “GDNâ€

Someone tell this guy there already is a program for immigrants to gain citizenship by serving in the military. The only difference is that they must be here legally in order to enlist.

Yes, there are definitely gangs in the military. The show Gangland highlighted the problem in one of their episodes. It's not just Iraq though, they're present where ever we have a military base.

    Illegals

Do not listen to this guy. Just enforce current laws and illegal aliens will leave. We don't want illegals in this country. All illegals must leave now.

MS-13 started as a result of a civil war in El Slavador. Another problem that is being avioded is the language issue. Many of them only speak in their native lanuage and not in English which could also be a big problem.
