PALM BEACH COUNTY, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has identified the two suspects connected to a high speed chase Tuesday.

The police pursuit began in Miami-Dade County and ended in Central Palm Beach County.

It started as a criminal investigation into narcotics trafficking according to Nicole Navas with US Customs and Immigration Enforcement.

Navas says Solvin Forbes, 43, a Colombian National, and Orenthal Marcel Butler, 24, are in custody pending federal charges.

Forbes was arrested in Miami, but Butler took off in a Mazda, according to investigators.

They say he hit an ICE agent's vehicle and peeled off reaching speeds up to 130 miles per hour.

Butler made it to the Florida Turnpike and traveled through Broward County and into Palm Beach County.

Eventually he sideswiped a car then hit a guardrail, struck a pickup truck, and once again bounced into a guardrail before swerving into the median. The driver then veered into the shoulder where the car came to a stop.

Butler climbed out the window and gave up on the Florida Turnpike near Okeechobee Boulevard in suburban West Palm Beach.

The two suspects are currently in ICE custody pending initial appearance on federal criminal charges.

High-speed chase on turnpike ends; yields $80K find
By Eliot Kleinberg, The Palm Beach Post

    November 25, 2009

A driver who led authorities on a high-speed chase through three counties Tuesday is one of two Tampa Bay-area men now facing federal charges, authorities say.

The 68-mile chase lasted 38 minutes, for an average speed of 107 mph, before the 2010 white four-door Mazda blew a tire, bounced off guardrails and a pickup and slid into the median about three miles north of the Okeechobee Boulevard exit at about 1:35 p.m., Highway Patrol spokesman Jorge Delahoz said Wednesday morning.

Orenthal Marcel Butler, 24, also known as Joseph O'Malley Shaw, was immediately arrested by Sweetwater police and an FHP trooper, Delahoz said.

Butler and Solvin Bowie-Forbes, 43, a Colombian national, who both list addresses in Clearwater, are in U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement custody and are expected to appear later today in Miami federal court, ICE spokeswoman Nicole Navas said.

A law enforcement source says authorities found $80,000 in the car after it stopped. They also recovered a semi-automatic handgun a motorist saw Butler throw from the car; the source did not know where.

The chase started around 12:50 p.m. in southwest Miami-Dade County, as agents of ICE, along with Metro-Dade police, Broward Sheriff's Office deputies, federal Drug Enforcement Administration, and Florida Highway Patrol troopers, were conducting a narcotics investigation.

During the stop, an ICE agent tried to stop the two and the car, driven by Butler, struck the agent's car and other police cars, then took off, ICE's Navas said.

Forbes was arrested at Southwest 107th Avenue and Flagler Street in the Sweetwater area, authorities said.

That was an unbelievable day for Miami Dade Police as they had 2 high speed chase that day on the same shift.
I hope they deport these 2 guys once they are convicted and serve time. Even if they are here legally due to this crime they can be deported.
