APRIL 24: Eight migrants were taken into custody and officials were looking for five more in the Jupiter/Tequesta area Thursday morning.

TEQUESTA, Fla. —Officials have detained nine undocumented migrants in Tequesta on Thursday morning, WPBF.com has learned.

U.S. Border Patrol officials confirmed that the Haitian migrants -- five men and four women -- were taken into custody in the 800 block of Beach Road.

Officials said someone called police between 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., claiming to have spotted about 13 migrants.


Border Patrols agents are trying to round up the other four.

All the migrants are reportedly in good health.

Officials also said there's no sign of a boat, nor do they know who the smugglers are.


No other details were immediately available.
