Which Economy is the Stimulus Bill Stimulating?

With little debate in the U.S. House of Representatives, a bill was passed to "stimulate" the economy. Nevermind the fact that jobs continued to be created in January and that the so-called stimulus package simply shifts money from one taxpayer group to the other (not a conservative position), but there is another glaring problem with the bill.

As it turns out, you don't even need to be an American citizen to get a rebate from the American taxpayer. Because of the wording in the House bill and the way it was rushed to a vote without amendment, illegal aliens could also be getting checks sent to them compliments of Uncle Sam.

As noted in a story by FOX News, once the bill was passed, "A mini-brushfire broke out in the Capitol Wednesday as members realized that the decision to refund tax payments to ITIN holders meant illegal immigrants could possibly benefit."

Members of the Senate Finance Committee passed a bill Wednesday they say will fix a loophole in the House-passed economic stimulus package that allows some illegal immigrants to qualify for tax rebate checks.

The fix requires that anyone eligible for a rebate envisioned in a House-passed $161 billion stimulus package must have to have a valid Social Security number, rather than an Individual Tax Identification Number.

Rep. Tom Tancredo, the Colorado congressman says:

“This package will stimulate one thing for certain: more illegal immigration,â€

Just spoke to the office of Max Baucus Thursday AM. A staffer there assured me that Senator Baucus worked to get the bill amended so that illegal aliens don't get a new flat-screen HDTV, courtesy of Uncle Sugar! The fact that the provision was in there is certainly no accident. Whack-jobs like Pelosi want to subsidize future voters - oops! I mean "undocumented workers!" The fact that you and your children will suffer means nothing to these short-sighted, self-interested, greedy,corrupt politicians. Just listen to that prattle from El Presidente Jorge Boosh saying he 'prefers the House version' This dispicable individual should be in federal prison, not the White House.
