MORRISTOWN - An undocumented immigrant from Honduras was being held Friday on $225,000 bail in the Morris County jail on charges of sexually abusing a girl between 2009 and 2014, when she was between the ages of eight and 12.

Daniel Soler, 46, was arrested Wednesday and charged with three counts each of aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child who now is 14.

Soler's arrest on sexual assault charges involving a child makes him the third man charged in Morristown since June 3 for similar crimes.

Soler waived his right to remain silent and denied any wrongdoing with the child when he spoke to investigators, Morris County Assistant Prosecutor Robert Preziosi told Superior Court Judge Thomas Critchley during a bail review on Friday.

Soler is accused of sexually abusing the girl on a number of occasions between 2009 and 2014, according to criminal complaints. She recently reported the alleged abuse to law enforcement, Preziosi said.

The judge maintained bail at $225,000 and told Soler, who was assisted by a Spanish-to-English interpreter, that he will be appointed a public defender soon. Soler, who works for a landscaping company, lives in town with his wife and child and other relatives.

Soler is not in the United States legally and federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement authorities have filed a detainer against him, Preziosi said.

"The allegations that have been made against me, I would like you to consider them better," Soler said to the judge, through the interpreter. The judge advised that he was reviewing bail only and that Soler should speak to his attorney about the charges.

Earlier in June, Orlando Soto, 49, and Jose Bueso, 20, both of Morristown, were separately charged with sexual assault. Bueso, who allegedly is in the U.S. illegally from Honduras, is charged with sexual assault and child endangerment of a 14-year-old girl. Soto is charged with sexually abusing a girl when she was under the age of 13, according to court records. They are both being held in the Morris County jail on $150,000 bail.
