Former Border Officials: Biden’s Mass Amnesty Will Make Migrant Crisis Worse

Several administration officials from the previous Trump administration attacked President Joe Biden on April 29, 2021 for his amnesty proposal during a time when the country is experiencing a crisis at the southern border.

On April 28, 2021, when Joe Biden gave his State of the Union, he called on Congress to pass the American Dream and Promise Act — his mega amnesty plan that would legalize the 11 million to 22 million illegal aliens residing in the country. Former Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials and Heritage Foundation immigration experts denounced Biden’s plan in a press release.

“This is a crisis of his own making,” former DHS Acting Secretary Chad Wolf declared in a statement. “Instead of returning to commonsense enforcement, the Biden administration is pushing forward with a massive amnesty proposal that will exacerbate the crisis and undermine the rule of law.”

Former acting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Mark Morgan took the Biden administration to task for granting illegal aliens with amnesty and demanded Congress to stand against Biden’s amnesty plan. Morgan stressed that border security and maintaining the rule of law should not be partisan issues.

“Congress needs to pass legislation this year to finally secure protection for the Dreamers – the young people who have only known America as their home,” Biden stated.
“And, permanent protections for immigrants on temporary protected status who come from countries beset by man—made and natural made violence and disaster,” Biden added. “As well as a pathway to citizenship for farmworkers who put food on our tables.”

In a statement, Morgan said that the Biden administration’s plan would actually grant amnesty to 30 million illegal aliens and would make the border crisis even worse. Kaylee Greenlee of the Daily Caller pointed to a Yale study that “estimated at least 16.7 million undocumented immigrants were living in the U.S. in 2016,” demonstrating that the illegal immigration problem may be larger than expected.

In a statement released in March by DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, law enforcement officials are projected to have more encounters with migrants in 2021 than in the previous 20 years. Since January 2021, CBP officials have encountered over 351,000 at the southern border.

“Joe Biden’s border crisis has gotten so bad, he wants to blame almost anyone, or anything, else for the consequences of his actions,” former acting DHS Deputy Secretary Ken Cuccinelli declared in a statement.

Regardless of what Chamber of Commerce Republicans say, immigration is not going away as an issue. Prior to the 2020 elections, as BLP reported, it was the #1 topic among Republican voters and will all but certainly remain a top concern with the current crisis.

Republicans who take support immigration restrictions and enforcement will be greatly rewarded at the polls, since voters are becoming so tired of America having porous borders.
