Former Congressman Who Helped Create E-Verify Points Out Flaws in the System

DES MOINES, Iowa -- "I was a member of the Jordan Commission and the idea of an electronic screening system for employment authorization was a proposal of the Commission, and I was certainly in support of it," said Bruce Morrison, a former U.S. Congressman. From 1983 to 1991, Mr. Morrison represented the Third District of Connecticut (New Haven) in the U.S. House of Representatives. "I was also Chairman of the Immigration Subcommittee, while I was in the congress and I was the author of the Immigration Act of 1990, which was a major expansion in skilled immigration."

Morrison was one of the people behind the idea of creating E-Verify, and he says the system has flaws.

"There`s a whole black market in selling identities, valid U.S. Citizen identities to people who are not that person and letting them use it on E- Verify," said Morrison. "So, until you have a way to stop identity theft and there are ways to do that, but unless you do that, then E-Verify will be just as in effective as the system that went before, it which was a paper system which was completely destroyed by false documents."

Yarrabee Farms did not use E-Verify to vet 24 year-old Cristhian Bahena Rivera, and Morrison says even if they had, he's not sure it would have made a difference.

"Probably not..." said Morrison. "But they did the check that E-Verify does, which is to say, here`s his name and here`s his social security number. Is that a match? And, that`s essentially what E-Verify does and what E-Verify doesn`t do and needs to do is say, is that his real name? Is that who he really is?"

We are going to have to go to facial recognition, fingerprints or some other high tech way to determine who the hell is in this country living and working legally.

I would get chipped if it meant no more damn illegal aliens here!

Tibbetts’ death sparks controversies, experts say system easily exploited

(AP) – Experts say the systems offered by the U.S. government to check the legal status of workers like the Mexican man now accused of killing an Iowa college student can be easily exploited.

In the case of Cristhian Bahena Rivera, the 24-year-old now charged with murder in the death of Mollie Tibbetts, Rivera’s ex-employer said Wednesday he provided an out-of-state ID card and Social Security number.

Dane Lang, a member of the family that owns Yarrabee Farms, said the family did not use the federal E-Verify system to check Rivera’s identity, correcting information he gave Tuesday.

Both E-Verify and the Social Security Administration’s program, immigration experts say, can be beaten with a state ID and a Social Security number belonging to someone else.

Legal status

Immigration authorities also say they have no record of granting admission into the United States to the man suspected of killing an Iowa college student.

A spokesman for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services said Wednesday that a search of the agency’s records found nothing indicating that Cristhian Bahena Rivera has any “lawful” immigration status.

That potentially contradicts the statement of Rivera’s attorney that he “has the legal documents” to work in the United States.

Yarrabee Farms threatened
The manager of a dairy farm that employed the man charged with killing an Iowa college student says he has received dozens of threatening phone messages and other contacts in the last 24 hours, including death threats.

Dane Lang, manager of Yarrabee Farms in Brooklyn, Iowa, says one person threatened to kill his dog and another said he would burn down his farm buildings. Lang says, “this is a really scary situation.”

Lang says the farm employed Cristhian Bahena Rivera for four years but knew him by a different name, which he did not disclose.

No, no, no. We are not going to give up any of our rights or protections to stop this, instead we are going to use our rights and protections to stop it. It will happen. We need a few more Republicans in Congress, especially in the Senate and if we succeed in November, things will begin to happen rapidly in 2019.

I am all for facial recognition at Ports of Entry, airports, employment, welfare, food stamps, social security, voting, medical care, schools, drivers license, open a bank account and government housing.

Any and ALL agencies that can PREVENT illegal aliens and criminals from doing business or living in this country.

I have nothing to hide and am not giving up anything.

My fingerprints are on file due to various jobs I have held, including the military and the SEC. I have no problem with fingerprinting everybody, but facial recognition may be a more up to date system.

Any government employees harboring, aiding and abetting illegal aliens needs to be FIRED!
