Former Navy SEAL Slams Dems for Trying to ‘Score Points’ Against Trump at ‘Expense of Our Security’

As funding fight continues, Dan Crenshaw reveals why walls work

Newly elected lawmaker Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) slammed congressional Democrats on Wednesday for refusing to give President Donald Trump the $5 billion he requested for the border wall and for trying to “score points against the president” at “the expense of our security.”

The government partially shut down before Christmas after Trump and Democratic lawmakers failed to reach an agreement over the $5 billion in border wall funding.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who presumably will be elected House speaker as a new Democratic majority takes over this week, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) refused to fund the border wall following a contentious meeting with Trump back in December.

Trump and Democratic lawmakers met again Wednesday to discuss border wall funding and whether they could reach a compromise to reopen the government entirely.

Crenshaw (pictured above right), a Navy SEAL veteran who received a Purple Heart and lost one of his eyes in 2012 while serving in Afghanistan, accused Democrats during an interview on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” of placing Americans in danger in order to thwart Trump from fulfilling his iconic campaign promise.

“A wall is effective. It is a crucial part of any kind of border security,” Crenshaw said as he alluded to his own experiences with walls as a Navy SEAL.

“I’ve spent a whole career infiltrating places and, you know, when we come upon a wall, it matters. We have to plan around it. It’s a mitigating factor if you’re trying to enter or across from point A to point B,” Crenshaw said.

Nevertheless, many Democrats have panned Trump’s border wall as a an outdated, needless and even racist proposal. But Crenshaw argued that liberals are playing a foolish game of semantics.

“They hate the word ‘wall,’ they just hate it, right?” Crenshaw said. “And for some reason they don’t value this idea of border security. They don’t value the sanctity of our borders and that’s really problematic, especially for a border state like Texas. We’re on the front lines down there.”

Although some Democrats claim that $5 billion is too much to spend on a border wall, many have no qualms about shelling out billions of dollars on foreign aid and other projects.

“It’s not too expensive. It’s .1 percent of our entire federal budget — .1 percent is what we’re talking about. That’s what $5 billion dollars ends up being. So it’s really not about the money,” Crenshaw explained.

“I think what they really want to do is score points against the president. He made a campaign promise and they want to score points against him by destroying that campaign promise,” Crenshaw said. “But it’s at the expense of our security.”

During the shutdown drama, an illegal immigrant shot and killed Newman Police Department Cpl. Ronil “Ron” Singh, 33, during a traffic stop in California. The illegal alien suspected of the crime was on the run until police caught him.

Singh was born in Fiji and immigrated to this country legally.

It was his dream to serve his Newman community in Stanislaus County as a police officer. Because English was not his first language, he worked hard to learn it and to tone down his thick accent so that he could be as effective as possible on the job.

Singh leaves behind a wife and a five-month-old son.

The Fiji-born police officer is “the absolute poster child for why immigration works if done legally,” Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson emphasized last Thursday night during an exclusive interview on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle.”

“Illegal immigration doesn’t serve our communities — especially criminals who victimize and exploit our communities,” Christianson said. “Whether you hate the president or love the president, border security goes hand in hand with national security, the safety of our communities and public safety. We need to know who’s in our communities that shouldn’t be.”
