The Brian Terry Foundation will host a fundraising golf tournament in North Texas in April at the Tour 18 golf course in Flower Mound. The Brian Terry foundation was established by the family of murdered U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry who was killed in the line of duty in southern Arizona in December, 2010 by Mexican bandits. The foundation was established to assist the family members of other Border Patrol agents who lose their lives in the line of duty.

“The Brian Terry Foundation and the Terry family is excited for the golf event in Dallas, Texas,” Kelly Terry-Willis, one of Brian Terry’s sisters, said to Breitbart Texas. “To be able to raise funds for fallen families and scholarship funds for young adults to attend college is part of what the mission is about.”

“To have friends help out, like Christy Lynn Miller (tournament director), that never met Brian shows what a huge impact Brian had during his 40 years on this earth,” she explained. “We hope to gain even more support for the Foundation after this outing. It will be a memorable time for all who attends.”

The tournament will be held on Friday, April 10th at the Tour 18 Golf Club in Flower Mound, Texas, northwest of Dallas. Tour 18 is a golf course that features replicas of some of the most famous golf courses in the United States. On Thursday evening, April 9th, the tournament will host a dinner and meet-and-greet to honor Brian Terry . The tournament is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. Sponsorship opportunities are still available as well as golfing signups. Information can be found on the event’s Facebook page.

Retired Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Special Agent Jay Dobyns will serve as the emcee for the dinner and tournament. He will also serve as auctioneer for the live auction portion of the fundraiser. Dobyns is a New York Times Best-Selling author of No Angel, his story of infiltrating the notorious Hell’s Angels gang. Breitbart News previously reported on the court fight Dobyns had with the Department of Justice over his book revealing the betrayal he faced from the American government.

Brian Terry Foundation Board President Ralph Terry, Brian Terry’s uncle, told Breitbart Texas, “The Dallas team is having fun putting the Brian Terry Foundation Golf Dallas event together. I am fortunate to have Christy Miller as our organizer and phenomenal fundraiser. She keeps us all in sync.”

“Michael Vernone is our resident golf event advisor,” he continued. “He has been involved in putting on more than 15+ tournaments. Lisa Kirtley-Letbetter has done most of our graphic design work. She too is involved in fund raising. I cannot thank this team enough. Without them this event would never happen.”

In February, members of Brian Terry’s family traveled to the Brian Terry Border Patrol Station in Bisbee, Arizona, for the unveiling of a larger-than-life statue of this American hero. The statue was nearly two years in the making and illustrates the character and spirit of a Border Patrol agent that demanded the best, not only from himself, but from everyone around him.

“To see the statue in person was very emotional and heartfelt,” said Kelly Terry-Willis. “It also made me extremely proud of Brian and all he gave in his short life.”

“Though this statue is of one man,” she said, “I hope that it will symbolize the ultimate sacrifice of all of the fallen agent’s in green.”

On the night of December 14, 2010, Brian Terry was killed during an operation in Peck Canyon (Southwestern Arizona) where he and fellow agents were responding to a sensor alert indicating activity in the area. The canyon had been the scene of activity by a group of Mexican bandits operating in the area to rob illegal immigrants and other drug smugglers. When Terry’s team came upon the bandits, a gunfight ensued and Terry was mortally wounded. One of the weapons found at the scene was later tied to what became known as the Operation Fast and Furious Scandal. To date, no high-ranking government officials have been held accountable for this blunder.

Breitbart Texas will be attending the event to cover the honoring of this slain Border Patrol agent.
