CBP U.S. Border Patrol Makes Significant Arrests Over Holiday Weekend

Tucson, Ariz. – Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents made several noteworthy arrests over the holiday weekend involving drugs, weapons, criminal aliens and sex offenders.


Monday evening, Tucson Station agents at the State Route 86 Checkpoint placed two U.S. citizens under arrest after finding a small amount of marijuana concealed in their vehicle, also occupied by two minors. The minor passengers were taken into custody. A search of the adult passenger revealed a 9mm pistol in his waistband and a small amount of cocaine. All four individuals were transported to the station for processing. Child Protective Services was contacted and took custody of the children. The narcotics will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration and the firearm will be handed over to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.


Also Monday, Ajo Station agents apprehended a 33-year-old Mexican male for illegally entering the United States. Record checks revealed he has an extensive criminal history including a conviction for lewd and lascivious acts with a minor out of Norwalk, Calif., and a prior removal. The subject also has an active extraditable warrant for a parole violation out of California. He will face federal charges and be turned over to appropriate authorities for his active warrant.


Sunday evening, Douglas Station agents apprehended a 23-year-old Mexican male for illegally entering the United States. During processing, record checks revealed he was convicted for possession of a controlled substance in King County, Ill., and he admitted to having ties to the Latin Kings street gang. The subject, previously removed from the U.S., now faces federal charges.


Ajo Station agents working in the west desert apprehended a 35-year-old Mexican male for illegally entering the United States on Sunday. During processing it was revealed the subject had a prior removal from the United States and also admitted to being a member of the Sureño gang. The subject will be federally prosecuted and processed for removal.


Saturday night, Casa Grande Station agents working in the west desert apprehended a 26-year-old Mexican male for illegally entering the United States. Record checks revealed he was convicted in 2006 for attempted rape in California and sentenced to three years in prison. He also has a prior removal from the United States and will be processed for removal as an aggravated felon.


Casa Grande agents apprehended a 24-year-old Mexican male for illegally entering the U.S. on Sunday. During processing it was revealed the subject is a member of the Sureño 13 gang with a prior criminal and immigration history. He was also convicted for a firearm violation and previously removed from the United States. He will again be processed for removal.


Naco Station agents apprehended a 20-year-old Mexican male for illegally entering the United States on Sunday. During processing it was revealed the subject had a prior removal from the United States and also admitted to being a member of the Sureño gang in North Carolina. He will be federally prosecuted and processed for removal.


Nogales Station agents apprehended a Mexican male national for illegally entering the United States Saturday morning. Record checks revealed the subject was convicted for sexual misconduct with a minor and sentenced to two years in prison. He will be federally prosecuted and processed for removal.


Friday morning, Nogales Station agents apprehended a Mexican male national for illegally entering the United States. Record checks revealed he was convicted for Driving Under the Influence and reckless homicide in Chicago, Ill., in 1997 and was sentenced to three years in prison. He will be federally prosecuted and processed for removal.

Pharr, Texas -- U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than a ton and a half of alleged marijuana at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge's import lot. On Jan. 17, CBP officers at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge encountered a Sterling tractor and utility refrigerated trailer at the cargo facility. (more)

CBP U.S. Border Patrol Agents Seize more than $617,000 of Methamphetamine in Temecula

Temecula, Calif. - U.S. Border Patrol agents working near the Interstate 15 checkpoint thwarted a narcotics smuggling attempt yesterday resulting in the seizure of more than 30 pounds of methamphetamine. At approximately 10:30 a.m., agents stopped a 20-year-old male United States citizen driving a black 2006 Hummer H3 and his 21-year-old male United States citizen passenger as they arrived at the checkpoint. U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers Seize Close To $200,000 in Methamphetamines at Brownsville Port of Entry

Brownsville, TX - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Veterans' International Bridge discovered methamphetamines valued at approximately $197,700 concealed within a Nissan Maxima. On Thursday, January 12, CBP officers at the Veterans' International Bridge came in contact with a passenger vehicle being driven by a woman identified as a 42-year-old United States citizen who resides in Houston, Texas.
