As Predicted: Mayor Rahm Emanuel Wants to Give Drug Discounts to Chicago ID Card Holders

In December Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel unveiled the city’s ID card program.

Mayor Emanuel named the ID card program “City Keys.”

The identification cards were designed to welcome the ‘undocumented’ community and people ‘on the sidelines’ into the city. The cards were issued to local citizens regardless of status.

Tucker Carlson reported on the program at the time.

Skeptics claimed the cards would give illegal aliens access to vote and receive government benefits.

On Monday the Emanuel regime announced that the new city ID cards will allow citizens to get discounts on prescription drugs.

Via The Chicago Tribune:

Mayor Rahm Emanuel wants Chicagoans to be able to use new municipal ID cards to get discounts on prescription drugs.

Emanuel and City Clerk Anna Valencia on Monday announced a request for proposals to add the benefit to the CityKey cards. Chicagoans also will have the option of getting a separate card for prescription drug discounts, the city clerk’s office said.

The IDs, which may already be used as CTA Ventra fare cards, to register to vote, and as Chicago Public Library cards, were initially intended for Chicagoans who otherwise might have trouble getting legal IDs, such as those living in the country illegally, homeless people and people recently released from prison. But they will be available to all city residents at the end of April, though a specific day has not yet been announced.

The vendor for the prescription discounts would be a pharmacy benefit manager.
