Fourth Gwinnett man indicted in illegal immigrant fake ID ring

LAWRENCEVILLE — A fourth suspect has been indicted in the Gwinnett-based fraud ring allegedly feeding fake IDs to illegal immigrants.

#A Gwinnett County grand jury indicted this week Jorge Chavez Ramos, charging him with 30 separate counts of computer forgery and single counts of second-degree forgery and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. According to information presented in the indictment, the Lawrenceville resident’s computer contained files which, “if created as a tangible document would have constituted forgery.”

#Those files were illegally altered representations of identification documents like permanent resident cards. Ramos was one of five men arrested in April when Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation busted an alleged ring giving such documents to illegal immigrants. The operation was based out of the Norcross and Duluth areas.

#Three of Ramos’ co-defendants — Jesus Olvera, Raul Mario Blancas and Jaime Quiroz-Santiago — were indicted on similar charges in August.

#According to Olvera’s indictment, the fake ID ring included the manufacturing of forged permanent resident and Social Security cards, as well as state identification cards from Georgia, California, Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina and Texas.

#Hector Antonio Fuentes is the lone original suspect that has not yet been indicted. All five men will face both state and federal charges.
