Thread: Fugitive Criminal Alien Arrested for Alleged Rape

A fugitive Guatemalan national is behind bars in Kansas City on charges connected to an alleged rape and series of aggravated burglaries. His record includes a possible 2011 deportation as a convicted felon.

Adalberto Mata-Beras is facing charges of rape, burglary of a home, and resisting arrest in the Wyandotte County Detention Center after being on the run for two years. The Guatemalan national has a criminal history that includes possession of a firearm and drugs, according to information provided to Breitbart Texas by Kansas City Police Department Spokesman Thomas Tomasic.

Court records obtained from the Wyandotte County Clerk’s Office by Breitbart Texas revealed Mata-Beras illegally entered the apartment home of his victim, identified only as R.E., and allegedly committed unlawful sexual intercourse via digital penetration without her consent. The arrest warrant states Mata-Beras overpowered the victim by force or fear.

Investigators linked the Guatemalan man to the crime with DNA evidence, Fox4 Kansas City reported in 2015. After the suspect had fled the jurisdiction, the FBI joined with the Kansas City Police Department to search for the fugitive.

Kansas Criminal Justice Information System records obtained by Breitbart Texas show Mata-Baras served a brief prison sentence for his drug possession conviction before being turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers on an immigration detainer. The state’s prison system released the felon to ICE officials on January 10, 2011, for possible removal.

Breitbart Texas reached out to ICE officials responsible for that area of operation to confirm the deportation. Records were not immediately available, but ICE officials promised a prompt response.

Police officials incarcerated Mata-Beras in the Wyandotte County Detention Center where is is under a $1.15 million bond, the Kansas City Star reported. Jail officials confirmed to Breitbart Texas that an immigration hold is in place to prevent the suspect’s release on bond. He is scheduled for a court appearance this week.
