BOLIVIA, N.C. (WECT) — A man will be deported after he spends up to nine years in prison for attempting to rape a woman more than 3 years ago.

According to the Brunswick County District Attorney’s Office, Luis A. Sanchez, 28, pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted rape for an incident on April 16, 2012.

Assistant District Attorney Jamie Turnage said Sanchez forced himself on the victim despite her repeatedly telling him no and to stop.

Sanchez will be required to complete sex offender treatment while he is in prison, and will have to register as a sex offender upon his release.

As a result of his conviction, the United States Office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed an immigration detainer on Sanchez, which requires his deportation after he serves his active prison sentence.
