EDINBURG, Texas - U.S Customs and Border Patrol Protection agents made several big arrests and drug seizures over the weekend.

According to the Border Patrol, three members of the MS-13 gang and one member of the 18th Street gang were arrested. Agents also arrested four other people who had previous convictions for violent crimes ranging from sexual offenses to aggravated homicide.

The Border Patrol said since Friday agents confiscated more than 5,500 pounds of marijuana that had an estimated value of $4.5 million.

Agents said during one inspection of a semi-trailer at the Falfurrias Station, 3,579 pounds of marijuana were confiscated -- the largest single seizure. Agents discovered 150 bundles of marijuana concealed within boxes of lettuce.

The driver was arrested and the narcotics and semi-trailer were seized.

What a mess Americans have/are creating. It just seems cumbersome, to say the least. From a federal standpoint, marijuana is an illegal substance. From Colorado and Washington's standpoint Marijuana is legal. From those two states interest, this illegal marijuana was product competing with their producers and suppliers. Texas is the only state of 50 providing extra security at the border above federal levels. Texas is taking an active role in protecting Colorado's and Washington's businesses. Colorado and Washington is not participating in manpower or cost of this "extra" security. As a Texas resident, I feel used. Used as an enabler of an addict is used, but in this case by entire states.


Things like this could eventually cause disharmony and disunity between states. All for one and one for all? Hardly.

MS-13 is a South American gang and it seems that many of the "children" allowed into the county by the Obama administration have gang ties.
