Change in Border Patrol bus checks coming to southern border

A controversial Border Patrol policy that limits when agents can go to commercial transportation hubs, like bus stations, is trickling down to the Southwest border, according to a union that represents the agents.

The October policy change that curtails agents from going to airports, bus and train stations on the northern border and in the country's interior has garnered criticism from the National Border Patrol Council.

In early November, some sectors on the Southwest border, including the El Paso Sector that covers a small corner of West Texas and all of New Mexico, received memos telling them agents needed “intelligence indicating a threatâ€
