GOP Congressman Warns Nation Headed to Civil War

Rep. Steve King posted a warning on Twitter Sunday evening that the U.S. is heading toward a second civil war, comparing the present day actions of the anti-Trump resistance to the run-up to the Civil War.


King, an eight-term Congressman from Iowa, keyed off a PJ Media article about leftist protesters shutting down a Portland, Oregon ICE office and taking down the U.S. flag, replacing with an “Refugees Welcome” flag.

Harper’s Ferry is a reference to the 1859 raid led by abolitionist John Brown on a federal armory at Harper’s Ferry, Virginia (now West Virginia), in a failed effort to instigate a slave rebellion.

Fort Sumter, South Carolina was the location where the first shots of the Civil War took place in 1861 soon after President Lincoln was sworn in.


King’s warning comes as Democrats and liberal activists are breaking down the norms of civil political society to stalk and harass Trump administration officials, Republicans and Department of Homeland Security employees in public and at their homes. Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) commanded such harassment to spread in an interview on MSNBC.

Last year a supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders opened fire on Republican Congressmen at a baseball practice at a field in Alexandria, Virginia, wounding Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) and several others.


During the 2016 presidential campaign Trump supporters were attacked many times outside Trump rallies. Candidate Trump himself was the target of a failed assassination attempt by a man who tried to grab a gun from a law enforcement officer at a rally to use to shoot Trump. At another rally a protester tried to climb on stage while Trump was speaking.

I've seen the likelihood of a civil war for some time now. The parties are moving further apart. Hatred is rising. Civility is gone!

And he's probably right if they keep forcing illegal immigration on us.

That just goes to show what animals most liberals really are. "You either see my way or I'll kill or harm you" isn't the attitude of a civilized person.

Which is why they want our guns.

The safety and security of our country is at stake.

This has got to end.
